Too Reptative in Areas However.....
This was my second Marty Nobel Steampunk Coloring book. For the most part I do like elements of the Steampunk Designs coloring book, just not as much as I liked the Steampunk Fashion coloring book. Here is what I liked and didn't like of the 31 pictures in the book.Cons- 9 of the pictures have one or more gun. Held in sometimes odd poses as if the gun was added in to take up space.- 18 pictures are depicted with glasses, goggles , binoculars covering the eyes giving the people "bumblebees" looking eyes. Leaving only 13 pictures where you can see the whole face.Pros- Both women and men are depicted in this book.- More of the Steampunk inventions are included along with the fashionFeatures I like are:- single-sided pages- perforated pages-paper quality is good. My gel pens only leave a hint of a shadow and minimal warping to the page.Overall I like the book but, was disappointed with the repetitive accessories and posing in the designs that I found. That said I have two members of my family who put on Christmas lists after seeing it..

I like Steampunk!
I wasn't sure if I'd like this coloring book, but now I think it might become a favorite (just like Dover's Tattoo designs book)! I bought it the other day when it was nearly half-price, almost as an afterthought to other Dover coloring books I was purchasing - I just wasn't sure I'd be interested "Steampunk." The cover was enticing enough, but gears and gadgets? But after starting on one of the illustrations, I have found that the designs are fun and entertaining - and unusual! The Creative Haven line is a bit more expensive (when not on sale) than other Dover coloring books, but as others have mentioned, you get one-sided illustrations and perforated edges for the extra bucks.A BIG plus to the Steampunk book is the quality of the paper has improved dramatically from other Dover coloring books. The quality of this book is even better than another Creative Haven book I purchased a few months ago. If you've ever worked with liquid markers - Supertips, brush tips, Sharpies, etc. - you will notice a huge improvement on color application. It will still bleed through to the back (no problem with one-sided drawings), but the application doesn't disintegrate or degrade the paper as quickly as you apply the color. I'd say Dover needs to continue using this grade of paper for all of their books, both double-sided and one-sided.All in all, my impulse purchase turned out to be a good one!

Best combination of Elements yet...
Update March 5, 2014: Just received a comment that stated that some of the drawings in this book are not the author's original work. Until this is proven in an actual court case, I have no reason to believe that these are anything but original works of art. The figures and many of the more "nouveau-ish" details are similar to other drawings in her previous works, so I question the premise of the accusations...Like a previous reviewer, I also have many coloring books by this author, and so expected that this would be another quality work. I didn't know if the single sided pages were going to make that much of a difference, since I use markers and so transfer my image to cardstock anyway, but even with that I was blown away! For one thing, my printer did a dance of joy when I realized I could use a thin piece of cardboard to catch even Prismacolor bleedthrough and not tear anything out!The images themselves are phenomenal...it's honestly the first time I've gotten a coloring book, and wanted to color every single image! There is a mix of people/costumes, mechanical elements, artistic "flourishes" elements, and just plain bits of fun on every page...if I could color human flesh worth a darn I'd upload these as I work them, but instead I'll just gleefully start practicing some more on these, and enjoy the chance to play with metallics and pastels alongside my markers!

Can’t Get Enough of Creative Haven!
I love the Creative Haven Coloring Books! They are great quality and inks don’t bleed!! I have found a plethora of different titles from them and just can’t get enough at a wonderful price!! Don’t hesitate... search Creative Haven and I’ll tell you right now that not even the tip of the iceberg will show up in one search and more will pop up when you least expect it!! I’ve made a habit of looking in the “others you may like” on the page of one I buy because each issue will bring up new ones that weren’t in your search. I think it’s just a calculated tease!! Enjoy!!!! 👍🏼😃

Stunning And Challenging Designs
For about a year now, I have been coloring as a stress reliever and general escapism from everyday life. It also seems to have the unintended benefit of helping my concentration and breaking my writer's blocks. It is a wonderful way to alleviate boredom in a creative, productive way, and I confess to being more excited than is befitting for someone my age when I saw Marty Noble had illustrated a steampunk themed book. Included within are over thirty stunning works of art unmistakably aimed at a more mature audience, some of which are slightly more intricate than I expected. Not only are her illustrations the usual high quality I have come to expect from this artist, but the book itself is extremely impressive. By far, this is the best Dover book I own, with thick, one sided, perforated pages. There is not a single bad design in the lot, and I don't know which one to start on first!ETA: I will not change my review of this book based on the slanderous accusations of other posters UNLESS and UNTIL they provide some tangible proof as to the validity of their claims. They are neither verified purchases nor have they offered a shred of evidence as to this supposed plaigirism. I did recognize one of the illustrations as being very similar to another work in Marty Noble's vampire coloring book, however, that is neither fraudulent or an act of copyright infringement.

This book is absolutely beautiful. I've been colouring as an adult for about 2 years and this is one of my favourites. The pages are not doublesided which is a plus and you can tear them out to display. The drawings are so detailed and incredibly complex!

Love steampunk and love this book
Love steampunk and love this book. Lots of intricate details needing just the right colour to make the page come alive.Lots of work to be done, but love what I have done so far.I used an acetate sheet under the page, just in case, although the markers I used did not mark the page beneath.
