Tarpon ultra lite 2 eye boat shoe
C**R
Light Weight, Well Constructed, Comfortable, Stylish. My New Favorite Boat Shoe.
These boat shoes are (true to their name) surprisingly light weight, have a deeply foam padded insert with good arch support and an inner lining. The leather uppers are soft, consistent in color and are hand-stiched perfectly. They are true to size (12M ) and very comfortable. I find the mocassin style toe with color-coordinated cloth inserts.very attractive. The round laces that surround the shoe opening are substantiall and easier to tie than rawhide. Grippy, siped, non-marring soles complete the package by preventing slippage on wet surfaces during their intended use aboard my sailboat and ashore. I've owned many boat shoes from different manufacturers over the years, but these are my all-time favorite.

Review after two years of wearing
I've been wearing 'topsiders' for over 40 years. This Tarpon shoe in gray is very durable and is what you might expect from Sperry. My pair has suffered two years of constant abuse. You can wear this shoe repeatedly and as long as you let them dry out they won't smell bad - even when wearing daily for extended periods. Just keep 'em dry! The pair I've worn have received hefty doses of seawater, sun, and repeated drying out after getting wet and the uppers stay supple. A little neatsfoot oil rubbed occasionally on the leather helps. The non-marking soles are tough too and are great for gripping boating decks and are still soft. The laces are strong and don't break or wear through easily. The mesh on the sides, btw, is not breathable as it is covered in leather on the inside. My one real complaint is the memory foam insole. It is very poor quality and ends up making the shoe unwearable. If you get these wet (like many people do) the insole stiffens, shrinks and then releases from the footbed and the thinner front half of the insole curls and bunches up. At first I wore them that way and they worked ok, but when I removed them the loose insole kept sticking to my foot, which in most cases is sockless! The only way to get around this is to rip out the insole which is not easy because it is glued to the footbed. And even once you get is out, much of the foam remains attached. I had to carefully remove all the foam by sanding, yes, sanding it out and then I bought a good removable insole for them. Now they work great, but it took some doing. If you are only going to wear these occasionally then the insole might not be an issue, but if you're outdoors and on the water like me, then it will be eventually.

Shoddy insides...
I am really disappointed with this product. Sperrys have been known to be good shoes, but not this particular one. Not too long after wearing these daily at the office, I noticed the left insole lamination bunching up under the top left of my foot. I figure I would push through and not let it bother me, but upon further investigation, I realized the foam layer was disintegrating. I just went out to buy new insoles to replace the terrible ones that came in the shoe. I have the pictures of the removed insoles so you can see. Nothing abnormal about my feet to cause the issue either. The rest of the shoe seems to be doing just fine, but I should not have to replace a major part of my shoe so early in my ownership of these shoes. Extremely disappointed!

Decent deck shoe.
Good quality shoe, and I really like the look. However, I’m like to often wear my deck shoes without socks. I do not like the feel of the foam inside the shoe and the cuts in it. Not so much uncomfortable as it is strange feeling to me. Also, I suspect the construction will not wear as long as past Sperry’s that I have had. I may post an update as I wear them more; I could be wrong as I have not had them long.

Great shoes but...
I’ve been wearing these Sperry’s for years and they are the best in comfort. I decided to try a pair in black and to my surprise they turned my feet black! Still comfy like the tan pair I have and I hope the dye will subside in time. That’s why the 3stars otherwise 5 stars for these shoes.Update; I thought the red soles were great looking, but after 7 months the red part of the soles were separating from the white parts. I wore these shoes a lot in the 7 months (5-6 times a week and walked on average 4 miles a day). As I can remember the brown pairs I had lasted longer. Still I will get another pair in tan because these shoes are so comfortable!

Comfortable, Good-Looking
Among the best pairs of casual shoes I've bought in years. The two pairs I purchased over several weeks look great, fit my size 10.5 narrow feet perfectly, haven't required any break-in period and have the feel of much more expensive shoes. Couple of things that impressed me are how well their pieces are stitched together, and how their 360-degree laces seem to pull the shoe tops comfortably around my feet. Sperry shoes I've had in the past have been durable, and have shown little wear and tear despite how I've treated them. I have a feeling these shoes will last for a long time, as well.

Nice comfortable to walk in shoes
Nice comfortable to walk in shoes. I needed a pair of all around shoes for travel. I tried on a pair in store a while ago and fell in love with them, but they didnt have the size and color options available online. Many color variations to fit any taste. Only issue i had was slight irritation on upper toe bone when wearing no socks, but I do have larger bone than normal and that might just be that they required a break in period.

these shoes are great. Very happy with it
Got these for my dad. He doesn't have wide feet, they fit him well after readjusting the straps. Not sure how comfy it would be for wide foot person. As for the stitching, material quality, scratch resistant: these shoes are great.Very happy with it.
