Good for show, not for use.
For nostalgia sake, I got this razor but also because I thought that perhaps it was being offered due to possible improvements over the original type. This is the type of razor that my father used and I tried when I first shaved. For those who are unfamiliar, the top opens by rotating the bottom of the handle. The blade is double edge and sharp. You drop it in and close it in place by again rotating the handle. The problem with this simple design and the reason for their near extinction is that the blade was never secure enough to prevent vibration while shaving. This meant that cuts were the usual result as well as a likely uneven shave. So did this new one change the result? First of all, the razor is very nice looking. I showed it to my father-in-law and he marveled at the look and memory. The handle I thought was a bit short for my hand, but that wasn't a concern. The significant difference to my recollection is that this one comes with a pack of blades (10) that are micro thin. The blades from my memory were much thicker. The ones in this pack are so thin that one must be very careful holding them since they are easy to drop, but too sharp to allow for error. You could easily slice into your finger. The thinness made me nervous since I thought it would make the blade even more wobbly than thicker ones. The shaving result was that I needed to hold a tissue against my face to absorb the blood. I had waited until after the weekend of no shaving to give it my best test and when I always get my best shave of the week. This time I could not use my regular razor the next day due to the remaining irritation from the day before. Therefore, while it looks cool, it will never again be used by me. It is now strictly for show as in a museum.

Very nice job, but be careful!!
I have very thick, dark facial hair and it's been an issue for me for most of my adult life. Trying to find a good way to shave cleanly has been very difficult. Most electrics have no chance at all. Generally I've shaved with an electric 3 days a week and blade the other two to catch up. I've usually used the 4 blade or even 5 blade combos and with those I can't even start "against the grain". I have to start with and once it's mostly off go over it again to finish up. It's been a long time since I've used a single blade and I've never used one like this so I was mightily curious. The result is that it was pretty impressive. It went right through everything quickly and painlessly. I'm not sure it made a difference but I was using shaving cream - I usually do - and it ended up being a very close shave. So why 4 stars? Blood. Lots of blood. Like dripping in the sink and still red spots after showering blood. When it started I was going to take a picture for this review, but it ended up being bad enough that it may have been disturbing. Mostly it was my chin/neck area which is where it is usually most difficult to shave. You know what though - I'm still giving it 4 stars and I'm not giving up on it yet. This may well have been "user error". I am going to try again in a week or so and take it a bit more slowly and see how it goes. It did a great job... I have no issue with the final product. One last concern are the refills. These blades are paper thin. It leaves me with concerns for how long they will last. I'll revisit this review when I have a little more information to go on.Update 07/17/2018Ok, I shaved again today and I had a fairly decent growth going on. I was VERY careful. I used a very light touch, like not even allowing the full weight of the razor on my skin. I still cut myself 3 times, but not nearly as bad as before. It was 3 fairly light cuts. The shave was still very smooth. It seems from my point of view that this razor just requires a bit of a learning curve. It will do the job and do it nicely, but if you are careless it will make you pay! I'm going to leave my review as it started with 4/5 stars. If you buy this I hope you have good luck with it and thank you for taking the time to read my review.

A great shave!
I have to say that at first I was a bit leery about using a safety razor. I remember the days when every medicine cabinet had a stiptic pencil and was wondering if one was included in the package. I took it out of the box with trembling fingers: would this be the day I accidentally cut by own throat? I needn't have worried. The shave that I got was way closer the the one with the five blade monstrosity that I had been using. Smooth as a baby's bum. And not a single Nick or even a razor burn and I shaved with water only. No shaving cream or even soap. This morning I used it with shaving soap and the results were even better. Then there is the cost issue. A pack of ten replacement blades is so much less than a package of shave replacement heads. Except for travel this is my go to razor from now on.

slow down
Trouble with stars on this one. What I like is the nice design and the old world experience. This isn't, however, for a quick shave in the morning before dashing on to your day. If you are looking for a slowing down process (which I was), this can be a good way of filling that out as part of a whole shaving routine. The nice thing about disposable type razors is they're user friendly. This isn't as friendly and takes some time to get to know--and at first it may pretty frustrating. We're in a world that prizes fast action and immediate expertise, so dumbs everything down to fit these goals. This razor is like going from a smart phone to a typewriter. For those who want the aesthetic experience, it's a nice entry into a world of methodical shaving that can get a very close shave indeed, with patience. Really, this is for those who want to try out this kind of approach, don't know if they'll commit to it, so would be best served by having a razor that provides the experience without spending too much money.

malísima, ni lo compren
la calidad de la maquinilla es pésima, el costo es demasiado para está. La misma maquinilla con los chinos cuestan 3 USD.
