When the edge wears out, snap off the segment and keep working. It’s a big time saver. When the final segment is done, dispose of the knife. These are good quality retractable utility knives. The blade extends and locks securely. When the blade gets dull, you can snap off the dull section for a sharp edge. I have to admit I usually just use a pair of pliers to snap off the blade but with these you can remove and use the rear cover which has a slot to snap off the blade. These retractable blade knives offer an additional benefit over traditional utility knives. With these, can extend the blade out longer than one section so that you can get a longer cut than you can with a traditional knife. It’s a bit more unstable that way but useful in cutting thick foam and similar items. The price for four is a good value.
