Product Description Not only does it give you speed and distance in the pool like all our watches, it does it in open water too! The PoolMate2 features all the patented lap-counting technology of our existing models with the addition of an open water mode to track swims in lakes, the sea or rivers. With double the battery life, a crystal glass face, larger clearer display and chrono mode for other activities it's a great watch. The black model comes with reverse display (white characters on black display) and does not have a back light. Grey, blue and purple models have standard display and back light. Battery life around 24 months CR2025 Weight 41g Diameter of face 40mm Strap fits wrists from 14.5 to 21.5cm 12 month guarantee. NOTE:If you have inaccuracies with lap counting first check the watch is set to the correct hand that you are wearing it on. You can see this from the SETUP menu (Press mode until you see SETUP, press start. Press mode until you see LEFT or RIGHT HAND. Use the up button to change the value then hold the start button for a couple of seconds to exit). If the watch counts less laps than it should then try gliding for a little longer at the start of a lap. This will give the watch a little longer to register the change of lap. If this does not help, some people find one arm gives better results than the other so experiment by setting the watch to the other arm and trying on this arm instead. If the watch counts slightly more laps than it should then concentrate on keeping a regular stroke pattern through the lap. Some people find one arm gives better results than the other so experiment by setting the watch to the other arm and trying on this arm instead.

A Good Watch for the Money
This watch is easy to see at a glance and is very user friendly. I have tested it over several kilometers so far and found it to be very accurate when counting the laps. However this was not the case when my husband borrowed it. This inaccuracy turned out not to be the watch's fault bit my husband's technique. When turning in the pool he was lifting his watch arm up before setting off which tricked the watch into thinking that it was a rotation/stroke. When I set off for a new lap I always lead with the watch arm which gives the pause required. The only downside with this watch is that I cannot feel when the alarm vibrates telling me when I have completed X amount of laps which is disappointing when this was actually the reason why I chose it over others. It does actually vibrate but ever so gently so if you are swimming it can't be felt. Therefore as a straight forward swim watch, I am pleased with this purchase, but for the vibration alert, a disappointment.

Good but hard to see laps or time.
Accurate but difficult to see laps swam as the number is the smallest figures on screen. This critiscism also refers to the time. Seems a basic design fault by someone who does not swim.

Nice swim watch.
It does the job properly. I've only used it 4-5 times so far and it di not loose a lap.I swim in a 25m pool and I only need about 10 strokes per lane, sometimes 9, so I was worried when I read that 7-8 is the absolute minimum for it to work.Only 2 issues: way too easy to erase a log as the delete button and the confirm are the same (madness), and that the light emits a high pitched noise (probably poor light component).

Well built and a good product
If you want a watch to count your lengths then this is for you. I was incredibly sceptical at first due to some indifferent reviews on here however, I have been pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Perfect count of lengths, logs your swim (even when you bodge it up on your first try!) And even gives you a rough guide of calories burnt off. This was a Christmas gift to me and it's possibly on the pricey side but if your serious about your swimming in my opinion. ... it's worth the cost.
