ZYLISS 2 in 1 Lemon, Orange and Citrus Zester

I have been shopping for a good "channel knife" that is suitable to make some festive garnish strips for cocktails. I have tried other "zesters" but the knife always sucked; I returned them. I have used this ZYLISS (the new model) on an orange(thick peel), a lemon(medium peel) and a lime(hard peel) with good results. I can only hope that it will remain sharp going forward.I really wanted a channel knife that I can "pull" straight back. I've used others with the cutter on the side, but they don't work well for me. It is hard enough to get through the skin of citrus and, in my experience, the side channel knife is more difficult to maneuver. This ZYLISS design with the big, comfortable handle (and a big hole if you want to hang it up) allows me greater control to cut a nice long, thinner, uniform garnish that looks great on the glass rim or in the drink.The zester seems to work fine, should I need it.(And thanks to those people who answered my questions before I bought it. You were spot on...)

I cook with citrus fruits quite a bit, and have tried a variety of zesters. I finally ordered this for baking and cooking because I broke several microplanes while zesting. This looked like it wouldn't bend or break. The zester end works a little differently, but once you get the hang of moving it across the skin of the fruit, it's easy to use. You can make long, pretty zests that don't lump together. I also found using the other end to make strips for decorating or baking useful. The wide handle is a little easier on the hand, but I feel like I had good control over the process. Cleaning is easy, and I find that I can put this in dishwasher without any problems.

Good product if you are only looking for a tool to cut curls from citrus for garnishes and cocktails but if you are looking for something more along the lines of a Zester...look elsewhere. There is extremely limited surface area for actual zesting, making it extremely difficult if that is your goal, in particular if you need a larger quantity of zest for a recipe. While I did end up keeping it because I did need a tool for those long citrus curls and the like and given that the price wasn't too exorbitant, at the same time I ended up purchasing an OXO zester afterwards for recipes that require a teaspoon or more (usually much more) citrus zest and was quite pleased with that as I usually am with all OXO products. All in all, if you only need a garnish tool then this might be for you but otherwise look elsewhere

I already owned an OXO zester but it never got used because the blade was dull from the get go, which made zesting citrus fruits near/entirely impossible. Finally decided to try and find a better replacement and decided on the Zyliss because it seemed to have the best reviews in total. The Zyliss Easy Grip Zester is amazing! The blade is actually sharp on both ends which makes zesting or peeling garnishments near effortless.The only thing I didn't care for about this design is that it doesn't rest well on flat surfaces; it'll rolls right off your counter. A flattened side would fix this problem but it's a minor inconvenience. Really happy with this purchase :)

I have tried many zesters on Amazon and this is the best one due to the downward pull, that offers the best leverage. Just first press into the skin of the lemon before you start to pull and then you can make nice long lemon peel twists for the almighty martini!

I bought this as a stocking stuff for my daughter-in-law. She loved it. It is easy to use and made the perfect zest curls!

My wife and like this tool. We asked ourselves how we did without it. If you are interested in alcohol alchemy, then you should get this. The handle is wide and short which makes easy for even a large handed person to use. I can make long strips of citrus, wrap them around a chopstick, and make curly Q garnishes. When making the long strips, hold the lemon or orange over the martini glass to allow the zest spray to coat the inside of the glass. It adds a nice flavor to the drink.We've used the smaller zesting holes for tiny little strips, it works great for that too!

This is an amazing little kitchen tool. It use to take me upwards of 15 minutes to carefully cut the rind off an orange and cut it into strips. The microplaner that I had was quicker, but the cleanup was hell (not to mention accidentally injuring myself when I got too close to the plane). With this little device all you do is lightly rake the surface of the citrus and bingo, you are done. Cleanup is quick and easy - just run it under hot water with a dishcloth and you are done (and it would take a lot of ingenuity to injure oneself). Very cool tool!

Avoid the white/grey handle version of the Zyliss zester like the plague! Right out of the box, it does not zest anything as it is not sharpened properly. I bought this for my mom, but by the time she tried it and reported back it was too late to return it. I tried it, and it just glides over the skin of every orange and lemon I tried. There is no way to make this piece of junk do what it is advertised to do, and for which Zyliss unashamedly charges an exorbitant amount of money.I have the previous version with yellow handle and it works like a charm. Far better than any other zester I have including an older Zwilling. That's why I recommended it to my mom, never expecting that somewhere along the line it would be "value engineered" into useless junk.

Just received this today. I took out a lemon first thing to see how it would work. It works great! I can't for the life of me figure out those who say this doesn't zest well as in some of the negative reviews. You do need to hold it properly and firmly against the lemon/orange to get a good zest but it's not complicated! Great grip, cleans out easily under the tap. Just what I wanted!
