I am having a hard time finding the right setting for plain normal bread. The bread is so far from the coils, so I have to keep raising the settings to get it brown. Then it doesn't brown evenly. I don't use bagels, and thicker items so the wide feature isn't helpful to me. I did put a sub bun in and it toasted great. I bought this model because all the newer toasters have the wide slots and are not deep enough for a normal slice of bread, so thought the adjustable width was a good idea. I like the looks of it. It is larger than I thought.If you want a toaster for doing bagels, buns and texas toast. It is perfect for that.
