A Deeper Love Inside: The Porsche Santiaga Story

Brilliant
I just finished i had to see where Porshe journey ended. Upon reading I was like i will be so glad when she grows up upon reading her journey I had to say that I dont think I would ofpersonally made it, I am in awe right now even speechless I wanted to hold my baby tight and just be like I love you. There is nothing sadder than a child longing for the approval of a parent, I did think all the chapters and situautions helped the reader to undertand Porshe even more. I loved her journey on the reservation I loved her determination in Brooklyn and thought she grew into a wonderful caring person with so much depth despite her circumstanes she made it. People come into your life for a reason Riot, Mama Nana and Mr Sparks helped to cultivate the scared little girl into a woman who was finally able to let her family demons and mistakes not dictate her future. I applaud Sister Souljah this is a true coming of age story and while I am a Coldest winter fan I often found myself disliking Winter's one dimensional thinking .Porshe on the other had depth and tons of layers and I was rooting for her I know folks want to talk about the mental health issues, but i did not ever feel like she was CRAZY i felt like given those circumstances she had to face she had to go outside her self as a coping mechanism.....nothing a Prisoner of War or a soldier would not do as having a weak mind can and will break you Siri was a imaginary friend in a world where she had none......i understand having a avid imagination as a child daydreaming not necessirly talking to myself i totally undertood.......all in the the love story was cute i was so let down with the visit to her sister but i am glad she had Elias and his family to draw strength from i hope there is a part two as i see that sister souljah was dropping real hollywood shade in the book while shedding light on the injustice of the juvenile detention home while showing the healing powers of organic and the value of self love and worth ......

The Courage of a Young Girl and the Will to Survive
If you have read any of the previous books by Sister Souljah, you will sincerely enjoy A Deeper Love Inside: The Porsche Santiaga Story, the sequel to The Coldest Winter Ever.At a very young age, tragedy strikes Porsche and her family is completely destroyed by the arrest of her father, Ricky Santiaga, the local hustler, who is loved and adored by the community because of his benevolent ways and beneficial treatment of his associates and community. At a very young age, 10, Porsche had a strong sense of family values and love. She shelters her younger sisters, Lexus and Mercedes, from the harsh reality of a police raid by hiding them in the closet and giving them a sleeping pill which puts them to sleep. This way they were not exposed to the harsh brutality of seeing their home searched and their father under arrest and placed in hand cuffs. At age 11, Porsche goes to juvy and is determined to survive and not become "a victim". She starts a hustle which enables her to achieve social status among the inmates. This hustle lets her become a member of the Diamond Needles. Needless to say, she maintains a strong work ethic which proves invaluable in later life.Porsche has many mind blowing experiences, for example, finding out that her once gorgeous mother is now a crack head living in the street. There are adventures also including escaping from juvy. These adventures will keep you wanting to read more and more. Perhaps you might be up until late at night reading until three in the morning like I was because I couldn't put the book down. There's an element of surprise toward the end of the book which will make you cheer if you have read the previous books by Sister Souljah.Love is also a theme. Love for the family and the predestined love of two young people which blossoms and endures. This book lets you see what happened to the Santiaga family and has been well worth the wait. It is an enjoyable heartwarming reading.

Excellent
This book is poignant and raw, Sister Soljah's words are so real and true that you can taste the chicken soup. You feel your body heal from the soup as you turn each page. This book is emotional and beautifully written. I really feel like I know the Santiaga family members.

good book exploring tender topics
This a quick review with no character breakdown. This story is gripping from start to finish! I have read all of sister souljiah work apart from the sequel to Midnight.I really enjoyed the language and her writing style. It keeps you in the dark disturbing world that she has created for her audience. I finished this book in one day with two breaks! I was encapsulated throughout for many reasons . Firstly the underground life and the way the writer explores this. breakdown in families takes place in all societies - people want to pretend its not out there, but it is and can be linked to poverty ,homelessness and drug abuse .Souljiah shows us what happens when your luck in life runs out and you don't have a support system to pick you up.Secondly when I realised that we were experiencing a character that had mental health issues I became further intrigued and continue to emerge myself in the story. Children creating stories , fantasy friends and worlds is a way of protecting the self when the adults have let them down. I was happy in the end that midnight was there to clear up the confusion and give the girl the emotional freedom she needed.I highly recommend this book. It's exciting and filled with tension.Ladies buy it for your book club, you will debate the issues of greed, family poverty and happy ending until the early hours!!!!!
