Out there!
Why oh why did I forget about Archie Shepp? It wasn't until I saw this offering -- 5 Original Albums -- I bought it -- the package -- and what amazing, astonishing, mind-blowing music it is! Amazing personnel: including Bobby Hutcherson, Henry Grimes, Joe Chambers, Ed Blackwell, J.C. Moses, and Rashid Ali -- but Christine Spencer soprano voice, what a treat! I wish there was more with her. But Archie Shepp is phenomenal! Ecstatic at times, and transcendent. Really. Check it out.I know some say this music is "out there" and yes it is, at times, but in a beautiful way. And I'm glad to go "out there" into that musical adventure -- an experience that literally gets this old monk dancing in his hermitage!Beautiful stuff if you have the time to listen, really listen.
