Practice Math Tests for New York City SHSAT Specialized High School Admissions Test: Volume 2

Picked this up for my niece. Similar to the first book, the questions seem harder than on the released practice tests. My niece said that she thinks there were also some mistakes in the answer key in this second version as well. Again the explanations were not very detailed so she had some difficulty understanding her mistakes on a few problems. Overall she said she liked the book and felt that it would help her.I received this product at a discount for an honest review. The author did not hold back with a page long list of her own credentials. I guess she was so busy putting that together she forgot to edit her own book.Having been through the whole "getting ready" process and looked at all these books I will share the knowledge I wish someone shared in a review when I was trying to figure out the best option. Among books, Barron's is the best option. If you are buying more than 1 book Won Suh's SHSAT : TJHSST Edition, oddly enough, is a close runner up just lacking the same amount of tips. A couple more are okay and a few others a waste. Test prep books are limited though! If you are buying several books or willing to spend a few more bucks, the absolute best value in SHSAT/TJHSST preparation is testprepSHSAT.com. It's a lot more like an online tutor without the cost. If money is no object then research a local tutor or test prep course like PrepMate because they will provide the most practice and, more importantly, teach you how to take the test.

It is a good book, with a variety of problems. It consists of several full length tests (math part). At the back of the book, there are answers with detailed explanations. Overall, it is a very helpful book for SHSAT prep. Also, there is a first volume that i would also recommend buying.

This book is great my son really improved in math with this book. It is challenging at the same time easy to understand. The explanations are great!

I wish they have Vol 3. Will probably buy Vol 1 or 2 again before the test and do it again. It helps

Anyone looking for additional math practice for the SHSAT, this book is for you. The problems are challenging with clear understandable explanations. My students found this book extremely beneficial.

Great practice for Math! Very similar problems to the actual SHSAT exam. So it was really good practice! Helped get used to the actual exam.
