Not just Scotch Bonnets
While quite hot, I was disappointed to discover on the label that this is not just Scotch Bonnets, with their incomparable flavor, but that the second ingredient listed is habanero peppers.

Great flavor, great quality, but a bit over-priced
I purchased this Scotch Bonnet Pepper Powder in order to make my own Jamaican Jerk wet seasoning. It turned out fantastic. If you can't get scotch bonnets at your local grocery store, and can't find a cheaper option, then don't hesitate to spend the few extra bucks on this - you won't be disappointed. Here's the Jerk recipe I decided on after a week of scouring the internet in case anyone's interested:1 cup of Allspice Berries Spicy World Whole Allspice, 1 Pound ground with a coffee grinder KRUPS 203-42 Electric Spice and Coffee Grinder with Stainless Steel Blades, Black 1 cup brown sugar16 cloves of garlic2 tbsp dried thyme (or 4 tbsp fresh)4 bunches of green onion2 tsp cinnamon1 tsp nutmeg4 tbsp soy sauce6 tbsp (or one container of this product) Scotch Bonnet pepper powderGrind everything up nicely and when you're it fits perfectly into 3 of the the little half pint mason jars like this: Jarden Home Brands 4Pk 8Oz Platinum Jar 1440061162 Canning Jars .

Don't drop the bottle!
This stuff kicks! This powder is great in Caribbean dishes where scotch bonnet is commonly used. I wish there was more chili flavor but given the scant options around here I'm not complaining. Just be careful as the bottle lid is brittle. We dropped it and cracked the lid. The mess was pretty terrible to clean as so much pepper got into the air.

Great Stuff!
I'm surprised by so many negative reviews? While I'd certainly agree, this is over priced... where can you get it cheaper? It was easy years ago, but few stores, if any, carry it anymore. Not hot enough? Wow. Scotch Bonnet is more known for a 'dark roasted' flavor than anything else. It's not really the item to buy if you want to burn your taste buds until they are numb.I've been buying this product for more than a decade. Originally from Kingston Miami, but you had to buy 10 at a time from them. While sometimes a 'batch' may seem a bit hotter than another, they really were very similar. If yer looking for extreme heat, this really isn't the product for you. But if you want to sprinkle a little on a burrito, scrambled eggs, old bay shrimp boil, tilapia, etc etc, it will definitely make you perspire and add some great flavor to boot! I love the stuff, certainly lasts a very long time.

Buyer Beware
I looked for a good scotch bonnet or other plain hot pepper powder for a bit and thought I had found it. Good flavor nice heat but a bit pricey for the amount, imagine my surprise when I saw just how much this retailed form the originator- much less than half! Please don't misunderstand this is a great product but it is being sold here for an outrageous amount over what it should.jcskitchen.com

Doesn't have a shaker top. Make sure you save an old pepper shaker so u don't use too much. A little goes quite a ways!

Don't waste your money
You've got to be kidding me. Right?...This is plain over-the-counter chile powder. Mild would be a more accurate description. It is not hot AT ALL. I bought three jars thinking it was real. Don't waste your money. If you want real Scotch bonnets buy them, dry them yourself and put them in a small coffee grinder. I threw my money away on this garbage.
