Amazing, brilliant, wow , best pencils ever
I can't really believe these pencils. There remarkable.I brought the 48 set. I hadn't spent so much on pencils before but I was looking for vibrant colours that you get from pens but long lasting like pencils. The brightness of the pencils is shocking un believable. It does what they say on the tin. You get nice varried colours. I use them on adult art colour books and you can see from the images I uploaded they really do the job of pens. You don't have to press hard. I invested in a helix desk top rotary pencils sharpener which is great for getting fine point . I highly recommend these pencils.

For the money, these pencils are very good. The black wood helps you identify the lead colour very accurately. I find when pencils are painted with the colour it often doesn't represent the real colour.Nicely presented in a good tin with solid plastic pencil trays. These would make a great gift for someone starting out in the adult colouring craze.

Beautiful to look at and beautiful to hold.
Marco produce a variety pencils which fall into two categories. Their student grade line is labelled Raffine, and their artist grade products - Renoir. These pencils fall into the latter category. I am not an experienced artist, I just like adult colouring and my review is based on my experience from that angle. I'm beginning to experiment with higher end products as I'm keen to reproduce some of the beautiful work I've seen online from adult colouring books. These particular Renoir coloured pencils are available in packs of 24, 36 and 48. They arrive ready sharpened and housed in a sturdy protective tin. As with all marco tins, the lid has an intricate image of a piece of art work. The base of the tin has a little bit telling you a little info about the Marco Renoir brand, and a couple of QR codes that you can scan with your phone or tablet for more information and to see other products manufactured by Marco. There's also a claim that no rainforest wood is used in these round barrelled pencils, so if you are environmentally conscious, this is good to know. My pencils arrived in very good condition, no pencils had come out off their slots and no tips were broken. There's no sign of any broken leads either. These pencils have an all black barrel and the black goes right through to the pencils core. This makes the pencils look very different to usual sets, it's just cosmetic but I think it makes them look lovely, both in the tin,and in a pencil wrap. Just like other other Marco pencils, there are no colour names, instead each shade has a number printed on the pencil. this personally is not an issue for me, but if your personal preference is to have colour names names then it's something you won't have with this brand. The pencils arrived ore arranged in colour order, which means the shade numbers are not in order. Again it's personal choice which you prefer. The round barrels of these pencils are a little thiner than the other Renoir Colouring pencils, for me, this makes them easier to hold and I felt like I had much more control over the pressure, I could use the pencil on it's sides for a lighter stroke much easier than I can with some other wider round barrelled pencils. These also seem to sharpen to a finer point with my manual sharpener.Looking at the cap of the pencil shows every single lead is centred, I recently learnt you should check this on pencils because if a lead is off centre, it means there's a weak point inside somewhere and when you've worn the pencil down and reach it, it could be hard to use and break more easily. I'm very happy that this won't happen with these. I always make a swatch with every colour and also complete at least colouring image whenever I receive any new stationary. It helps me get a real feel for the pencil and use them in a variety of ways, which means I can give you as much info as I can.First thing I noticed after swatching is that all the colour numbers across the Renoir range match up. So for example, the shade numbered 44 in this Renoir set is the same colour as the shade 44 in standard wood colouring pencil set and also the Watercolour set. I like this because it means I can mix the different pencils up if I want different effects but also be able to keep the same colour for a more unified appearance. From the picture of my swatches you can see that by applying light, medium or firmer pressure you can get a variety of vibrancy and shades from one pencil. I only used the three standard pressures for my swatch but you'll achieve some gorgeous gradients by increasing pressure in slower increments than I did.I've used them on two images and found they very soft to use, they glided across the paper in my colouring book, without any scratching and left an even layer of colour behind it. Because they are oil based they leave a slight shiny finish Which shows up if you hold your design up to the light.I found they blend and layer beautifully, they are capable of producing some great effects for adult colouring books. As with all oil based products, , you can use baby oil on a blending tool to make the blending even more natural looking, I have not tried this method as more than I'm happy with the results I achieved with the pencil alone. They held up to burnishing without breaking once, which shows how strong and durable the cores are, I used a lot of pressure to burnish and was very surprised to not experience even any crumbling. They sharpen nicely with my manual sharpener and formed a fine point, I was expecting them to blunt quickly but they held the point longer than the other Renoir coloured pencils I've used. This may be due to being able to hold on the side more evenly due to the smaller barrel. Rotating the nib as you colour helps keep it pointier for longer too, but even with a softer point you can get into some smallish areas. The images I completed are from Millie Marotta's Wild Savannah and Johanna Basford's Enchanted Forest. I chose these two images as the paper is different in texture and colour in both books so that you could see the different results. I've experimented with shading and burnishing in both. The rabbit picture features one shade of brown in every element on the picture. I'm very pleased with how different it looks when teamed with different colours. There's a nice selection of shades in the 36 pack, some very nice oranges and blues. They are perfect for adult colouring books. I like them very much and will be buying the 48 setI was kindly supplied the 36 pack as a sample for reviewing. I have used these pencils over the last two weeks to try and include as much info as possible, but if I've left anything out or you have any questions, please let me know.
