Will these fit metal bowls which have a rim around the top so aren’t flush with the sides of the bowl?

The first bowl I sealed sounds similar to what is described. It sealed without any problems. I am extremely happy with my purchase

I love these however i have found they have began loosing their stick /grip and slide off my bowls ? I have placed them in the dishwasher ect

Wash mine by hand and rinse well. Perhaps the heat or dishwash liquid has had an impact on the silicone. It may be that it is breaking down because of this? I wash all my silicone moulds etc by hand with dish liquid and good rinses.

Are they safe to cover foods directly with?

Yes Dishwasher safe so hygienically safe and microwave safe so should be good. Look at Lake Land range of this product also
