Lies, misleading but still lies.
The details stated the songbook contained all Doug's beloved songs from the Andy Griffith Show, but there are only three songs from the show. I guess I should have realized, the songs not included in the book and were on the show were not beloved enough by Doug to be in the book. Sure, but what about the song "There is a Time?" This song is not in the book and it is one of the most loved songs of all time. Why, it even made Mr. Darling cry while his daughter was singing it. What a rip-off for being so misleading.

Good Tab Book
This book will introduce the banjo player to Doug Dillard's unique style. Some of the licks that you have heard him play and wondered how he does that...this book will clear it up. The songs are easy to follow. Not for beginners. These arrangements are a intermediate to advanced level.

Good Intermediat Book
Good book but not a real beginner book. Demonstrates cords for C & G tuning. Good song selection but mostly instrumental tabs not a lot of lyrics.

Douglas Dillard is one of the greatest banjo pikers of all time and this book holds some of his greatest songs. I suggest that when you get this book that you start with Green corn.

For advanced players
I purchased this book as it was on a half price offer.I have enjoyedDouglas Dillard,s playing for many years, and to see how he playedsome of it is great. The only down side is in my humble opinionthat there is not enough of the classic Dollars songs and tunes.Do we really need another version of Old Joe Clark or John HenryOr John Hardy ? These tunes appear in countless tutorials and Idon't think they need repeating. There are one of two printing errorsBut not serious. The Book uses three banjo running a and whichsong uses which is explained at the beginning of the book but forsome reason the tuning is written as G tuning above each song asyou go through the book! Apart from that the tabbed out transcriptionsof the classic Dillard tunes is excellent, just not enough of them.
