A great read for readers of all ages
It's rare when you can find a book that readers of all ages can learn from. As an adult who is fairly well-informed about the subject, I was surprised at how much I learned reading a book intended for a young audience.Dr. Ehlmann's ability to simply and engagingly communicate information makes for fun and informative reading. You'd expect the structure of the book to have a chapter about each planet with dry facts and figures. Instead, the reader is taken on a subject-based journey throughout the solar system, where cutting-edge research and discoveries are connected to form an enlightening picture of the current thinking about our star system.Sequels, please and thank you.

Fun presentation, but the information is rich and accurate, and often amazing.
This is a neat little book, that contains a flood of up to date information about the planets in the Solar System. I lent it to a 12 year old friend, who thought it excellent. Don't let the comic book cover fool you. There are fun drawings, but the science is not watered down. Bethany makes sure the book is accurate and up to date. Buy the book for the young scientists in your life.

Learn About Our Cosmic Neighbors
Do you know who your cosmic neighbors are? You can learn all about it with Dr. Bethany Ehlmann, or Dr. E, and her sidekick Rover, a mobile robot that helped gather rocks and other data for study from planet Mars. Readers will learn about the Goldilocks zone, which consists of three planets. Venus, Earth and Mars are considered to be in this zone which is considered to be a habitable area of the cosmos. Did you know that comets are considered to be dirty snowballs by scientists because they release dust and gas? The planet Saturn has beautiful rings surrounding it which are made of bits of ice and rock. It would take nine earths to fit around the middle of this planet. Did you know that craters have different parts? These parts are called the rim, walls, rays, floor, central peak and ejecta. Do you love diamonds? You could possibly become rich if you could collect the chunks of diamonds that may be floating around the planet of Saturn.Dr. Ehlmann with the help of author Jennifer Swanson share so much cool information for the space lover. Curious readers will find fantastic photographs, fun graphic novel type illustrations depicting Dr. E. and Rover in a super hero manner. This guide is host to plenty of information like frozen worlds, erosion and weathering, climate and the importance of water and even volcanoes within the Solar System. Readers will also find activities that can be done right in the home, scientists profiles, fun facts, a glossary and even more resources to learn about what’s out in space. Parents and teachers will keep young kids engaged as they learn about the earths cosmic neighbors and can discuss their curiosity about planets and whether or not they think we will all be able to visit them some day in the future.
