Ventura Universal Carrier Rack

Update:After minimal use frame brackets show significant distortion and there is paint loss, which over time would rust (it's a steel rack).Downrated and returned to Amazon. Will be trying a better designed aluminium rack that doesn't rely on cheap paint to keep out the weather.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original review:It’s hard to design anything like this to be“universal” - every bike has little but important differences that can make fitting easier or harder. I have one of the latter....That said it almost fitted perfectly with the bits provided but not quite; I needed larger bolts for the bottom connection to the rear forks, longer and with a spacer on one side to avoid fouling one of the mounting bolts of the rear disk brake caliper. Fortunately I had all the bits I needed but be aware it might be a bit disappointing and frustrating if you don’t have stuff like that lying around. Really good value for money though and the end result looks as though it was purpose designed for the bile rather than universal fitting.Recommended - if you don’t mind a bit of “fettling” if need be :-)

Arrived promptly and is a good carrier. A few things to note and my reasons for 4 stars not 5. The bolts supplied for assembly have allen key heads not phillips. Not a problem if you have allen keys. The lower struts bolt on to lugs on the bike frame. These are a standard thread (M6) but no bolts are supplied. The top bracket either bolts to frame lugs with a standard thread or through a hole in the frame. Once again, no bolts are provided.

Genuine bargain. Poor reviews surprise me, but I suspect some people require close, detailed instructions. Fitted perfectly to a Trek 1.2 that is being customised into a tourer. And sturdy enough to take my 14.5 stone weight as a test. Comes with brackets to mount a few different way, so covers bases. If I was to be picky, I'd say it's a little heavier than some of the Aluminium racks, but that's precisely why it's as rigid and robust as it is.

The carrier arrived only a few days after I ordered it which was great. Well packaged. The carrier is relatively easy to put together, although the instructions were in picture form, so a little bit of guesswork required! You also need a couple of additional nuts and bolts to attach it to the bar under the saddle, but apart from that, I'm really very pleased with the final product which is now securely attached to my bicycle. Would highly recommend Bikes4life Limited.

Other users have commented that this could have been designed a bit better. It fits on my bike but it was forced on in a way that puts pressure on the rack in order to accommodate the wheel disk brake. Thankfully this is only being used for light grocery shopping, I would like to use this for a summer expedition with a heavy load but I would be wary and might consider something more robust..

Very happy with this order which arrived before estimated delivery date. Although it is at the cheaper end of bike rear carrier market I found the multi adjustable/ fixing brackets very helpful. No problem fitting to my bike, Thankyou. Roger Abbott.

good solid steel frame. I would recomend this much more than the aluminum racks as I've had one break during a cycle tour through europe. steel will last much longer. instructions were not the best but I was able to figure it out on my own by looking at my bike and the picture

Intructions were poorly translated and one of the screws came pre-rusted... i wouldnt recommend the product but its not bad enough that i cant use it on my bike so as of right now its still fitted but you will have to do alot of guess work especially if you have bigger wheels... the kit works its just not perfect
