OH, WHAT A CHARMING ROMANTIC MOVIE
THIS FILM TAKES PLACE AS A BROKEN HEARTED MAN, JUST SEPARATED IN A RELATIONSHIP, FINDS AN INJURED DUCK AND HILARIOUSLY BRINGS IT BACK TO HEALTH. WHILE DOING THIS HE MEETS AT THE ZOO, A SWEET, DELIGHTFUL ZOOKEEPER. THERE ARE SOME OBSTACLES, SO DO THEY GET TOGETHER? THIS IS A VERY FUNNY ROMANTIC COMEDY AND VERY TOUCHING. A FAMILYFILM 100%. EVERYONE WILL LOVE IT. GET OUT THE POPCORN.

New Zealand, Here We Come!
With Rhys Darby and Sally Hawkins in a somewhat subdued romantic comedy/dramady taking place in Middle Earth, how can one lose?Rhys Darby loses his love- she walks out, a wounded duck crashes in. He seeks help from a reluctant Sally Hawkins. Will love bloom and conquer all? Of course, enjoy the ride and the obligatory bumps in the romance and happy ending- well, perhaps, happy. Stay tuned. We loved Sally Hawkins in Happy-Go-Lucky and, even more so, in the zany, romantic comedy, Happy Ever Afters. Here, she is much more reserved and cautious, but still charming, funny and vulnerable. Just don't expect the intensity of those other flicks. This is a gentler story with some silly duck antics filmed in a beautiful country with Queen music to pick it up now and then.Nice change of pace.

Adorable, surprising, and just plain silly!
Very well done. The acting was great, of course. The main actors have always given a great performance, it was so refreshing to see them play the main roles instead of sidekicks. Great for them! Also, while I was a little confused about where the plot was going, it came around to a nice and familiar romcom ending that fit with the quirkiness whilst being mainstream enough to be more heart-warming than off-putting. Also the soundtrack being nothing but Queen songs was unexpected and fun. Queen freaking rocks!

Romance takes Flight
When I saw this trailer I knew this movie would be one I would thoroughly enjoy. As a professional Pet Sitter & Dog Walker (not to mention animal lover of all kinds) ~ I hunt out movies like this one, but this time I happen to stumble across it. I usually don't like romance movies that are overly sweet ... this one toed the line a bit, but the sweet bits with the duck won me over. I highly recommend this cute flick!I must confess that one of the best parts is not only Sally Hawkins but the Queen song that all the actors & actresses sang to at the end - as the characters they played in the movie ~ Loved it!

A fun spin on a rom com
I found it quirky and fun to watch. I enjoyed the supporting characters as well. Nice to see both friendship and romance win out in the end. Worth watching though I am not sure it is a family film since there is for sure some intensity. It was a good escapist watch for an evening at home.

Quirky, fun, unexpected delight.
Headline says it all...my husband found this film on prime. I so enjoyed it, I bought the dvd for my library. It's easy to move in and live with the all characters in this story, including the duck, even though it lasts only a short while.

Rom com Kiwi-style
Set in beautiful Auckland, New Zealand this movie is something of a departure for the Kiwi film industry, which is perhaps better known for its Oscar-winning fantasy franchises, featuring little folk living in holes in the ground. But that's no reason not to have a crack at a Romantic comedy. The film is enjoyable on plenty of levels, not least the Queen music which punctuates the story. The male lead is Kiwi comic Rhys Darby, who I'd not seen before and his match is Brit Sally Hawkins, who was brilliant as Anne Eliot in 'Persuasion' and has been in countless goodish films ever since. Hawkins is the star here, playing a fairly strait-laced 35 year-old vet & mum opposite the rather oafish, immature character, played by Darby. They meet after he takes in an injured shellduck that crash-lands on the roof of his bungalow. The supporting cast all locally cast are excellent, especially the young lad, Beck Taylor who plays Hawkins' son, and there are some great locations, including a recent NZ vs Oz cricket test match. The duck features a lot in the story-line, rather too often in my view (unless you are really fascinated by ducks), but the writer has tried hard to make this first and foremost a comedy, and it just about works on that level. There are plenty of funny moments amidst the emotional turmoils between the two leads, which, I have to say was mostly driven by the classy Hawkins.

Very happy customer
I bought this because I love Sally Hawkins and I also loved Rhys Darby in Flight Of The Conchords and the movie ended up being very endearing. I have been looking for this dvd in the shops, but found it here for a very good price. Would use this seller again and recommend to a friend. Thank you
