Roadside Geology of Wyoming (Roadside Geology Series)

Who knew that Wyoming was a fossil hunters dream! Probably everyone but me! To find fossils you need to know the geologic formations that contain those fossils. The Roadside Geology of Wyoming is an excellent resource to reveal the geology of Wyoming & where fossil bearing formations are located on the ground.

Great information. I would love to see an updated version with color pictures like the other books in this series. It’s harder to identify rocks with black and white pictures.

I ordered a second book for myself, & my son in law a Wyoming native was very impressed with the details. I also have a Roadside Geology of Hawai'i book.

Most amazing book full of geology, history, and fun. Always in our laps. Cleverly arranged by travel routes. Would be brilliant as an audio book!

I am collecting the entire Roadside Geology (and Geology Underfoot) series because they are excellent books that address specific areas of the United States. If you are at all curious about the geologic history of this country or your own state, I highly recommend these books. They are particularly nice to take on field trips to specific areas, and learning the creation story of the geologic features that you see every day is a fascinating exercise.

We bought the Roadside Geology books for Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. Although published in the 1980s, we figured the geology hadn't changed that much since then, LOL. My husband LOVES these books. We recently took them along on a road trip through the 3 states and looked up every interesting geological formation we saw. Now he's reading them at home. The book on Idaho--Idaho has very diverse geology--is almost like taking Geology 101 all over again.This book explains EVERYTHING.
