Heavy duty and works well
I have been using an Ultimate Support AX-48 which is a great stand. It is sturdy and elegant and works well if I am standing and playing. However, there are two issues that made me search for a studio replacement (I'll keep the AX for live use).First of all, the Standtastic has arms that tilt and can be adjusted. I spend most of my time in the studio sitting down at the keys. Tilting the arms make the controls of all my synths visible. Second, the Standtastic has ample room beneath for pedals. It is very difficult to place pedals around the feet of the AX.The Standtastic is very well built. The drawbacks that I see are that it is a bit bulky and fiddley and is not as elegant as the AX. It would take more time to set up if I were on the road and moving it around. That is not a huge issue as it probably takes 7-10 minutes to adjust and it would be very comfortable for live use. It comes with a sturdy bag and packs together very nicely. I'm very pleased with this purchase and the stand is a great value at $199.

Disappointing stand
Standtastic advertises that there is no keyboard bounce with this stand. That is true - but they sure can sway. These stands are a nightmare to set up. It is extremely difficult to get the arms' height even. And their choice to use protruding thumb screws to secure the arm depth puts them in a position to really scratch a lower keyboard when you remove it.The frustrating thing is that they could have made this a really good stand. There needs to be detentes at the various height options to assist in getting the arms set up evenly. Another horizontal bar or two would have alleviated the sway. I bought three of these things: one a double tier and two are triple tier and I hope to replace them all by using Gibraltar hardware (a much much more expensive option but after trying nearly every other stand out there, it will be worth it to me).I would never recommend these stands to anyone. They have been extremely frustrating and the sway is terrible.

Heavy duty and solid
I have had this stand for over 20 years, gigged with it, and used in my home studio. Very sold and sturdy. The reviewer that gave it a single star mentioned sway - the only way this stand would sway is if you tried to move it with keyboards on it (not designed for that) or did not set it up properly. They also mentioned difficulty getting the arms even on each of the uprights, you just have to pay close attention to where you lock their arm mounts in and each upright has a measure scale on it for that purpose. They are honestly easier to get even than the older style a-frame stands, and getting their cross-bars level. Since the main frame of the stand is made from u-shape steel instead of aluminum tubes, it is heavier but also much stronger than the older style a-frames, and as they advertise, zero keyboard bounce which is the biggest complaint of the a-frame style stands.

I've tried them all and LOVE this stand
I've tried them all and LOVE this stand... never had a bit of problem. The height adjustments can be *pre-set*... get it where you want it, set it and never mess with it again. The arms adjust with simple pins that pop in and out and have an "L" shape at the front ends to keep keyboard for slipping off the front. MUCH more secure than the usual X type stands (I have one of those, too).Folds up easily into a straight line (more or less)... 'band members used to call it my "Nordic Track" (ha!) . Yes, its bulky but thats because its heavy duty. I NEVER had a problem with keyboards "bouncing' which is EXACTLY why I paid extra to get one of these... much, much better.. 'especially if someone in the crowd comes up and leans on it, etc, etc ;o) ...
