Use this daily in my shop and it was significantly less expensive than at my welder supply store or any other offerings online. Definitely is beefy enough to hold 1/8 in. material for tacking and I've used it on materials up to 1/2 in. material. As always, please make sure your stuff is braced in addition to using one of these magnets, as that 50 lbs rating does not take into consideration the force of something tipping away or towards you!

Great little tool. I bought it specifically to hold pipe for welding, but I’m building a powder coat oven and it’s been wonderful for holding things together. Even for thin gauge metal, I can move it accurately into position and it holds the part there for drilling or welding. I’m using the 75lb version, and buying another.

Item was received as advertised, does a good job holding together various pieces I was welding together. I think the 50lb. rating might be a bit of an exaggeration as far as the practical use of the magnet goes, but it is definitely strong and effective for holding sheet metal or thin plate together.

Used to hold sheet metal in place while tacking together. Worked great!! Sometimes two hands just are not enough and this made the job much easier. Only thing I would do differently is I should have bought two or three. Shipped fast and product was as shown.

This defiantly does not hold the weight it Claims. Can’t even hold 2 12” pieces of 3/16” angle iron together. Other than that does what it’s supposed to, just wish the 25lb holding force was accurate
