Bye, bye bumper stickers!
Overall, this is a very cool little sign. It works just as described and is very readable with good scroll speed. It can be improved quite a bit, however. First, as others have mentioned, the remote only works from outside the car (assuming it's on your back window) since the IR receiver is pointing out toward traffic. This is a big bummer if you want to change the message or turn it off while you're driving. However, if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can carefully attach an IR extender to the existing IR receiver. I got the Monoprice 5-Feet IR Extender Cable Receiver. It has 3 wires. The red goes to the "+" (power), the green goes to the "-" (ground), and the white goes to the "S" (signal). The wire fits nicely in the existing wire channel along side the Dc 12v wire. The new receiver now sits near the back seat and it works great! An extender would be a great addition to future models. Also on my wish list is to have this sign be wider. Even a few inches more would be much better as long words are a bit hard to read. Lastly, the sign would be much easier to use if it could be programmed with a smart phone instead of a silly remote (although I'm not sure that's possible). All in all though, pretty darn cool!

For Sign in Car - Awful Placement of IR sensor
I bought this so I can signal to other drivers in traffic: "Thank you", "Excuse me", "Keep right except to pass", etc.The IR sensor for this thing is on the face - where the LED letters are displayed - which is placed against the back window. The sensor cannot pick up the signal from the controller - rendering this thing useless for this purpose.Suggestion to manufacturer: move the IR sensor to the BACK of the device, or better yet - put the IR sensor on the plug for the 12v port. This way, I can point the remote to that, instead of having to point it behind myself.I'll be taking this thing apart to see if I can move the IR sensor to the back, myself. Otherwise - this thing is absolutely worthless to me. I cannot change my rating on this, because I wouldn't expect anyone else to have the chops with a soldering iron/electronics to pull this off - I expect this thing to be usable "as is" out of the box. Please note that this device comes with the 12v converter for cigarette lighters - so it is designed for use in a vehicle... The suction cups are placed in such a way to face the letters outward. This is what this is designed for - I'm not misusing this product.

Love this once I figured out how to program it.
this is awesome. The cord reaches from the cigarette lighter to the back window of my Rav4. The suction cups didn't seem to hold it up for very long, so I had to skedapt another way to hold it on the window. It took several tries to figure out how to program the banner so that the message replaced the brand name that scrolled when first turned on. Instructions could be a little clearer, but stick with it, once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

Not Quite Working for Me
I got this to put in the window of a classic car when I attend car shows. I thought to use it to tell a few things about the car (engine, transmission, paint color etc.) while I walked around the show. I had to put the required information in 3 separate messages which you are supposed to be able to string together on the display. Sometimes all three would play, but other times only one or two. The unit would also self shut down without being asked. The instructions suck, too, as others have noted. This is a good idea executed badly.

Useful, some learning curve
4 stars because its awesome but has its drawbacks.Awesome because it does what it is supposed to. easy to read, scrolling messages, etc. Takes a little learning to get the message input done, but if youve ever texted on a flip phone, its just like the T-9 keyboard. The Cons:the IR sensor is on the outside, so you have to enter and initiate messages from the outside. I took the steps from the top review of soldering in another IR sensor, and that works beautifully. The Red cover over the screen is flimsy red plastic, which apparently warps in heat. I havent experienced it yet, but you can probably remove the red film and not have any issues using the board. The keys on the remote are small, so chubby fingers beware. The board will replay the default 'banner' message whenever power is restored. My car's Cig outlet isnt 100% constant, theres a dip so the board restarts every 45 seconds, which can be annoying if you dont want a message playing constantly, however you can re-program the default banner message. A few 'spaces' (blanks) will work as a message, so now the 'default' just looks 'off'.Program any of the default 'preprogrammed' messages as the stored custom messages so they are easier to use. to use a 'pre-programmed message', you have to hit 4 buttons, which can be a hassle while driving. I set them as the programmable messages, which is just one button push to use them. just remember which one is which...all in all, i like it. Im a tinkerer by nature, so making those edits for me was easy, but for the average user, this might be a bit much. works great so far.

Very nice sign
Use it on my boat to notify others the alarm system is on. At night time this thing is awesome!I just repeat the words ALARM ON. The scrolling message says it all.

Could be better
This car sign works but it’s not of the greatest quality. The remote won’t even work when it’s within an inch of the sogn while in the vehicle. It must be programmed outside the vehicle or while facing the sign. It’s a scrolling sign and only scrolling, no static text. Also, the plastic melted from high temperatures in the sunlight.

Barley works. Dosnt stick to window well
Its actually worse than what the reviews say.It was that hard to try get working. Once working I placed on the glass and tried to change "modes" and it wouldn't work as remote won't work unless it's directly infront of it. So it's useless. Plus it's always on so no point of it. It turns on and off always also just displaying "leadleds" like how annoying. It's going in the bin waste of money.

Obviously not suited to Queensland environment.
Overall does whats required though the remote is very cluttered and not intuitive to use.The suction pads did not adhere to the windows of the ute even though I prepared the surfaces well. The biggest complaint is that the red plastic in front of the Leds has warped significantly in weak winter sunlight. The unit is extremely unlikely to hold up in our summer so needless to say I am happy I didn't pay more.
