The Rainbow Beneath My Feet: A Mushroom Dyer's Field Guide

I like the recipes given in the book and the handy mushrooming key. It gave me some ideas to check out with other species in my area using some of the same methods and chemicals like ammonia to see if they will yield dyes.

excellent reference for natural dyers who want to work with mushrooms.

You have to go to different sections of the book to put together name, color and dye it produces. I ended up jotting down my own notes.

A short introduction that shows and explains dyeing technique with lots of superb photographs. The meat of this book is the detailed field guide to mushrooms with a full set of color photographs. Proper keys are here, good index, glossary and bibliography. Superb publication with all the details needed to do the job.

A great instruction on how to use wild mushrooms to dye fabrics, every step of the way is described in great detail.

The illustrations are wonderful, but the labeling of photos and organization are confusing.  The Rainbow Beneath My Feet: A Mushroom Dyer's Field Guide

Well written and researched throughout, but do note that the fungi are those usually found in North America. Not all are to be found in Europe, although some are. Very good as a field guide, and the section on dyeing is adequate, if not comprehensive.

Daughter loves it.
