Meter tells me what my plants need!
The RAINPOINT smart digital plant moisture meter comes with two boxes. One is a mini box hub and the other is a smart soil moisture sensor. There is an app that is downloaded that enables the features of the product. You will be able to check the humidity of the soil in real time. What I like best is that it will alert me when my plant needs to be watered. If I am traveling, I know exactly when I need to ask a friend or Neighbor to stop by and water my plants! There are other accessories, like a smart water pump, that can be purchased to expand the system. I am happy, just using what I have now, but nice to know I could do that in the future, if I decide to!

Product works great. Alexa Application will mess up their Application tho.
UPDATE: After investigating our connection problems further, I discovered that our Alexa units scattered throughout our house connected to each wireless moisture sensor without permission! I believe this is another attempt by Alexa to collect more private information, and in doing so, they seem to have malfunctioned the RainPoint application on my phone, costing me four or five hours of time sniffing through the Alexa skills application to find the problem. Their Homgar smart application was screwing up the application. The Alexa group just turned it on us without asking. That is pretty rich! Enough is enough Hey Alexa, keep your hands off my private stuff unless I say it's okay! That was a small invasion of privacy, but seriously, STOP sneaking around inserting stuff into our programs and applications and slowing them down or fouling up applications that we want to use without Alexa's attempt to grab additional information. That's pathetic! I think it's about time to delete the Alexa application. Your intrusive behavior is not welcomed.CORRECTION, this RainPoint unit is a great product. Highly recommend it. Just make sure to delete or at minimum Disable the intrusive Alexa skills that forced it's way into their the RainPoint program.

Does not connect to App
Last week, I purchased two of these sensors, a hub and a Smart 2 zone water timer. All Rainpoint products. After a few hours fiddling with I couldn't get the hub to load. A call to customer service helped find that the issue was that the Home App is not the correct app to use. The app needed is Rainpoint Tuya. Using the Tuya version of the app the hub and Smart 2 zone timer work great.Following the instructions included with the sensors, I cannot get the sensors to connect to the app. I guess tomorrow will be another customer service call. The sensors function in stand alone mode, they just won't connect wirelessly. The wireless function is why I purchased these items.

Great system .. easy to connect and use
This works! I had previously bought the Ecowitt system for soil monitoring .. its was very old technology so I retuned it. The RainPoint system is a much more modern system. I had this connected within 5 minutes and then added the soil monitor .. its the similar technology to something like Arlo Cameras or SimplySafe where you connect the hub to Wifi and then add the various pieces to build your system .. RainPoint is like Arlo for gardening .. I'm using the soil monitors to make sure my citrus trees get watered in the summer months while I'm gone.. last year the water timer died and it was a month before I figured out the problem and the trees were damaged .. This Rain Point system will hopefully catch it sooner this time .. it saved 24 or 30 days worth of data .. the app on the iphone is easy to use. I now have both 2 more soil monitors after the 1st one connected and worked so easily.

Big Improvement over older Blue Tooth Model.. but poor battery access
Last year I purchased their older Bluetooth model which was okay but had shortcomings that this new model overcame. The biggest improvement was this model has a digital readout right on the meter so you can check without your phone. The Wifi also allows for email notifications that tell you when water levels are low which is a gamechanger. My older model had issues with sun causing inaccurate soil temperatures, I have not had an opportunity to check that this year. The biggest criticism is that you need to remove two very small phillips screws to replace the battery. Most people will have to buy a specialized small phillips screwdriver to do this, not cool! The company also should have offered older bluetooth customers a bigger discount to replace their hub for this newer model. I've not been impressed with their customer service.Update March 2025 - Because this is a Third Party seller, they get your contact information on a review so you are not anonymous. Shame on Amazon for giving this info to them! Now customer service is offering to credit me for my old outdated Bluetooth models. So apparently customers have to leave reviews to get service.

Poor instructions
Instructions are not clear. It's difficult to understand what the display means. Support is not good,,i sent pictures of my order so they would know the item number to offer support. Twice they said they didn't get the information. If I don't get support today, I'll return it.
