Horseback Riding For Dummies Paperback – April 13, 2007

This is great for a beginning rider or to brush up on general info if you've been away from the sport in a while. There are great photos to accompany the easy to follow text, and the author knows what she's talking about. I like how it covers both Western and English riding and even includes horse "etiquette" sections. Great book overall!

I bought this for a joke gift for my boss (he recently broke his nose horseback riding at a by the hour type of place) and I am the horseback rider in the office. I glanced through the book, and it really gives a good basic overview. I am hoping he won't toss it out and let his ten year old daughter have it. Amazon free shipping is the best. Cheers! I am a horseback riding instructor and this is one of my favorite books for new students. Its great for all ages, and covers the bases very well. Also a great reference point for new horse owners!!

The format is the same as all the "for dummies" books. It tries to deal with all kinds of riding, English, Western, Hacking, show, etc, That's a lot of information to attempt to pack into one book, so, while "everything" is covered, it's basic, and there really are none of the tricks of the trade that other more focused books contain.It's worth the price though and might be a help if you haven't decided which kind of rider you want to be.

Covers EVERYTHING! Don't let the title fool you, GREAT information and artwork and well done.

I have Learned alot form this book..as I have always loved horses and would like to own one someday. I will not buy one until I know all about horses and can take care of them properly. This book has everything in it you need to know. The seller was very prompt in sending it to me as well as the condition of the book was perfect. I would purchase from them again..

I purchased this book to help out my girlfriend with learning how to ride a horse. I felt that if I were to teach her how to ride we would no longer be boyfriend/girlfriend and that was not what I wanted, so I purchased this book. I felt that if I could give her a working knowledge of what I was talking about then our relationship could stand up to horseback riding lessons by me and it has so far thanks to the book.

iv been riding for about three years now, admittedly not in an overly dedicated fashion, but still found insightful things in there - probably useful for anyone who isn't a high-end rider
