The wire is a well made multi stranded stainless steel (must have 20+ tiny strands) that flexes well and can support heavier light strings even though it is only about 1/16 inch in diameter. The included hardware is also made of stainless steel and should suit your hanging needs if you know how to use it, and that is where the problem is with this product - NO INSTRUCTIONS WHATSOEVER. You have to go on Youtube and find a site that shows how to hang string lights with this type of hardware. No big deal, but if this vendor wants 5 stars they should include instructions or an internet site to go to for instructions. I have had my light string on this wire for 2 months thru several storms and have had no problems. If you hang your lights between trees, leave extra slack, protect the tree with some sort of plastic/rubber tubing, and get adequate springs at the ends to handle wind movement. The included hardware makes adjustment easy once you understand how it works Leave adequate slack at the ends of the hardware so you can shorten/loosen easily if needed. I would buy this again BECAUSE of the included hardware which can be a PIA to find and rather costly buying it individually.

I would be careful hanging to low or you could easily get clotheslined by this and do major damage. The accessories are well built but you need to know how to assemble them since there are no instructions. This kit goes well beyond the use for string lights since I used the extra wire to hang my shade sail with it as well. I like that the accessories give the freedom to easily disassemble which is great for me for winter. I would recommend this to anyone looking to pay a little more for a quality set, as long as you are ok without instructions since there is a learning curve to using this and customizing this to your yard.

I very rarely write product reviews, but this installation kit deserves one. I installed two 48 foot strands of string lights a couple of weeks ago, the process was a snap, you just have to look at the photos in the listing to determine the function of each part. Fast forward a couple of weeks, we were hit by a confirmed tornado, in southeastern Pennsylvania no less. The winds and hail toppled a 70 oak tree, lifted a shed off its foundation and left my property littered with tree limbs and other debris. But my sting lights held firm and look exactly the same as the day I installed them because of this kit. It is most definitely a worthy buy and would purchase another in a heartbeat!

Stainless steel, so won’t rust. I am surprised at the thinness of the cable, not much thicker than a bicycle brake/shift cable (1/2 the thickness I expected). Should be fine though and work for hanging outdoor lights. I haven’t installed yet, but package looks to have all necessary pieces.

Good value, quality good...but no instructions at all other than hard to read drawing on the actual Amazon product page. Would have been nice to have a single sheet of paper to make sure it was assembled correctly. I think I figured it out, but it took some time to get it right. Again, good quality, good deal...but come on guys, help us out a little.

This is a terrible kit… it is wire and multiple parts you could easily buy for $4 at Home Depot. The package came with no instructions and only 2 of each kind… so you need to find out how to use each on your own… I do not recommend this kit

This product was meant for hanging lights when I purchase it. I instead used it for hanging a canopy for shade. Hooking this up where I needed it was great. It isn't as thick as I thought, but was perfect for lights and canopy. I gave it a 5 star because of the flexibility and multi purpose it can be used for.

All the parts you need unless you want to install two of the same type of line. I had a lot of extra line yo use for other things. Seems to be holding up well under normal stress. You will need a wire cutter or electricians “stripper” tool to cut it; needle nose will not work unless you got Superman grip.
