Quiet(ish) and stable, but still too noisy
Unlike the previous replacement power supply I tried in my ancient Gateway SX2850, this one is relatively quiet. A compatible U-line model was so loud I could hear it across the room, but this one's cooling fan is inaudible from more than a few feet away when the PC isn't under heavy use.As others have noted, this power supply doesn't have a screw hole on the side farthest from the power cord/fan. It doesn't seem to make any difference, though. The three other screw holes on the cord side were well aligned with the original case and the whole thing seems plenty secure.8-month Update: The power supply is significantly louder after the break-in period. Even at idle it's audible from about 4 feet, which is much noisier than I'd prefer for a PC in a living room. I guess there's no room for a larger, slower fan in these tiny power supplies, which is a shame.

new power supply?
once my wife's old Gateway Win7 computer started to shut off all on its own, the wife was super frustrated as we all would be. Then, when she had decided upon a new computer for herself, and she received it, I asked if I could have her old broken one. "What would you want with that?" she asked. I now have a virtually new Win7 computer running the entertainment center in my office, for $35, 3 or 4 screws and about 10 minutes. The power supply works as advertised. And she is happy with the new one. Win-win.

New life
Gave new life to cpu that had been sitting due to bad power supply would definitely recommend. Work as should, reason for 4 instead of 5 starts is because it is just a tad bit louder than oem but nothing to noticeable

Not as described, though it worked
While I did make this supply work in my application, I ordered it based upon its description on-line where it was described as having the connector types that I needed. Instead, I received a supply with multiple SATA connectors. I ended up having to cut and splice the old connectors onto the SATA lines. Disappointing.

Returned before I installed.
Ordered on assumption that my Power Supply was failing (intermittent power up problems). Found problem with my Surge Protect Power Strip. Returned without using. It did look to be an accurate/compatible replacement for my Computer.

Great hard to source PSU
We have a lot of clients running otherwise very reliable Acer Veritron X SFF desktops. When the PSU's die Acer don't supply the part any more and these fit perfectly. I've fitted one so far and its worked well for a week so assuming the reliability is there its a great part. Just had my second one arrive ready to fit. I'll try and remember to come back in 3 months and update to say they are still going great.

Fit after I had to adjust
It worked on my computer but 4 stars because the wiring was set up in opposite direction so I had to reorganize the system inside so the wires fit in the right direction.

Power supply is missing mounting lug at interior end of case
The original power supply was fried by an over-voltage event at a friend's house. A number of other appliances at my friend's house were similarly affected. This power supply was the same size as the orginal, but the new power supply is missing a mounting lug at the interior end of case. I installed it without the lug screwed down to the case. The Gateway SX2840-01 now turns-on. Something it didn't do after the over-voltage event.
