There are authentic recipes from so many cultures. I know there is some crossover due to colonization, but I wasn’t expecting for the diversity to be this extensive! I wanted the Caribbean and African recipes but I’m grateful for the Chinese and Middle Eastern recipes too. This is a recipe book that will be saved for my daughter. (She’s only 6 now!)The only reason my review is 4 stars is because a page was torn from my copy....just one from what I could tell from skimming on the first day. I’ll guess I’ll live, even though I checked the table of contents and it seems like some amazing recipes where on that page!

The cookbook I know is very good with some authentic Caribbean dishes. The book was sold to me as used very good but I must say the book was in an excellent condition. Thank you so much

Great healthy food. Continuing famil tradition of great meals

My mother has had this book in her possession for more years than I am old, but she just wouldn't part with it. I decided to STOP begging for her book and purchase my own. Amazon.com has made this whole process convenient and enjoyable. Multiculturalism and Diversity are great strengths to build upon, but we need to embrace our uniqueness, so that we have something to share with others. This book allows Trini's to continue to learn and share our cultural uniqueness and greatness with the world.This book is a truly a treasure full of tradition.

Recipes from other countries

I have to confess that Naps Girls is my alma mater so I'm familiar with the teachers who originally came up with the recipes ......let's just say a LONG time ago! LOL . The book as been updated and includes other types of food as well. The recipes are on par - anyone can cook well with this book! Highly recommend if you love FLAVOR!!

Even though the book was pre-owned it was relatively new and was in a great condition. As the name says there is a variety of recipes from the Caribbean and internationally that you can use to prepare a wide variety of meals. Additionally it helps to create 3 course dinners compete with starter main course and dessert. it's all you want in a classic recipe book .

... you can find it elsewhere for cheaper than the current prices on Amazon. I purchased it on Amazon in 2005 for about $47 so it is outrageous to me to pay much more than that.I spent about 11 years in Trinidad as a child then in other parts of the Caribbean. Somehow, as an adult, I ended far far north of there with no access to roti and other wonderful Trini foods. When I came across this book, I was very excited. And I am happy to say 7 years later, that I LOVE this book. Whenever I am homesick for that food, I can make it. There are a few ingredient substitutions I have to do (such as swiss chard and spinach for callalloo) but the result is close to the real thing and my appetite is happily rewarded.

Only one recipe hasn't worked so far and I thikn its becuase I went overboard with the hot sauce lolWhat I like best about this book is the recipe measurements are given in tbsp, tsp and cups. No need for weighing scales! No paragraphs and paragraphs of blurb, just simple instructions and delicious results. Worth the money. I plan to hand this down to my daughter as part of her inheritance
