It doesn't close in a strict sense, but it keeps all the water out in a strange way. You have to be careful how you close it, but once you get used to it, it works.I'm more worried about damaging it than about its leaking.It fits nicely as a backpack transporting our stuff to and from the river, is buoyant while floating stuff down the river. I have not tried immersing it with stuff inside, but it kept the towels and my painting supplies dry.

This bag is exactly what I expected it to be and I am happy with it. I have been caught in the rain before while on a day hike so it was important to me to get a bag that was waterproof. I plan to get into SUP paddling too so I will use it for that. It holds an impressive amount of stuff but isn’t too big and the straps are comfortable. It also has a chest strap which is a good place to keep a knife or something like that. Great product and very easy to use. Extra pockets are great for holding extra water or my phone. I pack this thing down with gear too but its not too big. Thanks Relentless Recreation for this bag.

We love this product. Very well made, very sturdy. The easy access compartment on the outside is convenient and even slightly water resistant. Nice bag but has it’s flaws, the areas where it’s folded the most discolors and you can tell there becomes a weak area for break down. Other than that nice. Your back can get sweaty if carrying it on a hot day but shoulder straps are good and comfortable. It’s definitely waterproof had no issues with that and has plunty of room. Good bag, for the cost, and customer service is amazing. I told them about the creasing and weakened areas and they sent me another one.

This is a great product, does exactly what you want, it's spacious and waterproof the sealed pocket at the front is very convenient, the only downside (this is the same for nearly all of this style of bag) are the side pockets, when I put the bag down things have a habit of sliding out, to be fair I work all day on boats so this bag is getting heavy use and tossed around a lot, something on the side pockets to keep stuff in would be great. Still a 5 star product though, this is the 2nd one of these I have bought (this one for one of my colleagues who loves my bag), I highly recommend it.

Great value for quality of bag! I used this pack during the rainy season in Costa Rica then again in tropical downpours in the Caribbean two months later, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Everything stayed dry, the pack was light and comfortable to wear. No funny smells lingered, even when I stuffed wet items inside for hours. I only wish that the side mesh pockets had a Velcro closure/tab for water bottles/such to remain secure. My metal water bottle slipped out a lot, so I had to tuck it inside, where by the end of both trips was prime space for everyone’s belongings. Definitely would purchase again!

Took on a 5 day kayaking trip. Nice to have. Front pocket could be bigger. I see myself getting years of use from this. Had no problems with roll up. But when full front pocket is useless....to tight to fit items in. It was pretty splashproof though.

I use this for it's designed purpose, a waterproof pack (rainy motorcycle rides, for instance), but it's main use is while overlanding and camping, it's a water tight and AIR TIGHT (no smells leak!) pack that's got good size. I line it with a garbage bag and hang up, it's a much more sturdy trash bag. I can then tie the trash bag tight, roll down this pack's top and synch it shut, then my trash can be safely transported to the nearest trash can. Love it!
