STABILO CarbOthello - Kneaded Eraser - Pack of 1 - White

Perfect set! Lots of neutrals!
These pencils are just what I was looking for. Got the advice to buy these from videos by wildlife artist Jason Morgan from YouTube - he’s always the best resource to go to for pastel art advice. They’re not without a couple teething issues - like sharpening is tricky if you like longer points you need to use a razor or sanding block since the sharpener supplied sharpens stubby points and the crank sharpeners I have break them easily. All workaround-able though.Colours are vibrant and the pastel is very easy to smudge and blend - I’d say these are the best I’ve tried and I’ve tried most popular brands.Plenty of browns and greys - fantastic as usually most sets give you very few leaving you struggling. Lots of warm and cool browns and greys - and black is very black.Comes with a stump and sharpener. Also has a kneaded eraser which feels a lot more like a conventional eraser to me - very hard, but does lift the pastel amazingly well. The tin is nice but I’m not a fan of the flimsy plastic layers as lifting them can cause them to bend and make the pencils fly all over the place (happened already to me lol). The set feels very weighty and well made, and the pencils are lovely to hold - being able to see the colour due to the lacquer on the outer of the pencil is a nice touch. One thing I SO wish there’d been is colour names on the pencils as I find colour names easier to remember than the seven digit numbers.Still worth every penny and so versatile. Love this set! I highly recommend!

Excellent pencils
Excellent set of pastel pencils (60). Not much more to say - they are top quality, sharpen well and can produce great results. Like any set, there are other colours I will add in from other brands but 95% are in this set.

Highly recommended
I bought these pastel pencils in order for me to 1. Try them, and 2. To create new pieces with. I have not been disappointed, these are amazing with beautiful blending capabilities - not only do the set of colours have a wide variety of different shades you can also mix them to create different colours. I would recommend these for any Artist.

Gets to the point
✤ STABILO✤ ‘SHORT CONE’ SHARPENER specifically for ‘CarbOthello’ CHALK PASTEL COLOURING PENCILS (4.4 mm)~ Art Nr. : 4514‘Made in Germany’Material – Rigid PLASTIC- TYPE casing.COLOUR : BLACKFor those days when only a short but sharp point will do, this is the purpose-built sharpener with a smaller diameter hole for STABILO 'CarbOthello' CHALK-PASTEL COLOURING PENCILS .‘STABILO’ is on the sharpener in GOLD-coloured lettering, along with the product ref number but there is no indication of what the sharpener is for if you have more than one, so I keep mine with the dedicated pencils. It measures around 2.75 cm x 1.75 cm x 1.5 cm maximum and does a great job without needing to tighten up the little, cross-head screw.Mine has lasted a fair while now, although it is hard to judge, sharpening on an ad hoc basis. It comes simply in a jiffy envelope.Worth shopping around for, as prices can vary, but it is currently relatively good value, IMO, and I will be happy to order a new one when that time comes.[10 images attached]

Lovely pastel pencils, but take a risk on the packaging
These pastel pencils are lovely to use, they blend well but also sharpen nicely for more detailed work. There is a good range of colours too. I find it easy to move the top layer across into the lid for setting up, and it's helpful to have the extras without having to buy them separately. On the downside, Stabilo could greatly improve the packaging by adding 2 sheets of protective foam, one above each layer. This would ensure no movement of the product during postage. It may be fine if you buy from an art shop, but mine arrived having moved around inside the tin. I don't think any of them are broken inside, but I haven't had to sharpen them enough to really judge. I had some spare thin foam which I cut to size, so that I could safely transport the pastel pencils for outdoor projects. It is an effective and inexpensive measure to protect this quality product, which really should be included.

Great for a beginner like me
I had never used pastels previously but using the Carbothellos felt so natural and i enjoyed trying them out. Only thing I wish is that I got the bigger tin. The picture attatched is unfinished but i used the stabilo Carbothellos and faber castel soft pastels on clairfontaine pastelmat paper

Excellent quality pastel pencils!
I’m not sure what took me so long to try these......but after buying a different make that I was disappointed in thought I’d try once more. The reviews for them are spot on, they lay down colour easily, blend well and are easy to sharpen. The packaging is good so no broken tips. Shame I didn’t try them sooner!

lovely quality
This was my first purchase of pastel pencils, and my first attempt at using them, and I was delighted with them. Not having used any others I am unable to compare them, however I watched lots of videos that artists had posted comparing the pencils before making my decision.I love the way that you can layer the light on dark and it is easy to rectify mistakes. The colour range is excellent, I draw a lot of wildlife and pets and there is an good variety of fur tones, and also skin tones if you want to paint portraits.I think this is going to be my new favourite medium.
