Duties of the Heart: Chovos HaLevavos, 2 Volume Boxed Set (Torah Classics Library) (English and Hebrew Edition)

I was very excited to receive this book yesterday on “Duties of the Heart.” The content is wonderful and sorely needed in today’s world of instant gratification. Unfortunately, when I opened the book to begin studying Volume One, I discovered that the binding near the front was broken, as shown in the photo; Volume Two is fine. For the price paid for this, I would expect that the binding would be of a better quality.

Here is another true Classic and an essential addition to any library for one who is practicing Mussar published by Torah Classics. The words of wisdom found within these pages will cause one to examine their own life and encourage a renewing of mental, spiritual, and physical mastery. Kudos to Torah Classics for putting this and many other invaluable works together, in English nonetheless, at an affordable price. Especially considering that for a while, the only copies of this were running at a much higher price than what is currently available. Grab a copy of this wonderful work while you can, before it's too late. I am grateful that Torah Classics Library decided to republish this at an affordable price and that I was able to get a copy of my own! A highly recommended investment!

I don't know if Christians are allowed to read this, but I did and absolutely loved it. Outstanding translation bridges the 1000 years between us and the world this rabbi lived in. I felt like he was sitting in my living room discussing the world we live in. The most comparable Christian work would be Interior Castle by Theresa of Avilla, maybe 400 years after his time. Same ideas with a different vocabulary. Glorious.

Duties of the Heart (2-Volume Set, Pocket-Size Edition) NOTE: I should have bought the pocket sized edition! It's my only regret with the purchase as the volumes I selected are too big to carry around in a handbag or pocket.This is considered "among the rarest jewels in the crown of Jewish spirituality" and it does not disappoint. It is about one's inner life: reflection, trust, sincerity, discipline and trust.MUST READ for anyone seeking to explore the inner potential for wisdom.

Love this book

A good, although not perfect, translation, and well printed so both languages are legible. And of course, a profound work of philosophy.

This book is a part of a series being used for study and self improvement. Working through the series at present. They are well written, easy to follow and worth having as a part of self knowledge and improvement.

The book contains great advice on how to improve the spiritual life, very recommended!!!
