As good as my original Canon stand...
For those keeping track, mine does not have the metal threads for tripod mount, but neither did my (broken) OEM stand that came with my 580ex. For what it's worth the plastic threads appear to be a bit more reinforced on this one than on my OEM, but that's not what broke on my OEM so either way...The geometry of this is the same as the Canon stand, and in fact it appears that it did say "CANON USA MADE IN JAPAN" before someone scratched it out with a soldering iron.Mild texture differences in the surface of the plastic but again just manufacturing rot.... This thing is for all practical purposes the same as the OEM stand may actually be just re-branded stuff.See pics for comparison... original Canon stand on top. (You can see where the ears broke off where the flash latches.)

Seems OEM (mine has plastic threads, not metal as other reviewers have said)
Three other reviewers said that the threads on the bottom are metal, so that's why I bought it. However, the item description does not say this, so I can't fault them for something they do not promise. If those other reviewers did get one with metal threads then they're very lucky, because mine is just the standard Canon version with plastic threads, which broke easily the first time, which is why I had to buy it again.4 stars seems fair for being the standard mount, would have awarded 5 if it had metal threads.

Probably the best replacement stand.
The style is copied after a Canon flash stand. The screw thread beneath is actually metal unlike Canon's. Locking the flash to the stand is no problem. Some things are different about this stand, though. First, the plastic material is softer the one made by Canon. This is not necessarily a bad thing because using a softer material with this stand will resist breaking better when accidentally dropped. Second, this stand is tight when used with a Canon 270EX-II flash. I don't really know what's the difference because using this stand with a 420EX, 580EX or a 600EX-RT doesn't feel as tight as using the stand with a 270EX-II.Overall, a good product. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a replacement stand.

Near Identical Replacement for Canon Flash Stand
This replacement Canon mini flash stand from Blue Penn is almost identical to the original. The weight and thickness of the plastic is less than the original, but it is not flimsy. The Blue Penn has a metal female screw insert where the original is all plastic. The stand easily accepts and tightly holds a Canon 580ex II and 430ex II. Overall a great purchase.

Flash Stands
These are great for shooting products with Speedlites. I use them when I have to set products on a table and bring flashes in really close and a tall tripod or large flash stand won't work.

Not bad for the price.
Its okay, works just as well as the original. While it appears to be the same, there seems to be a slight difference in the fitting due to its very tight for the flash to fit.

I love this stand
I love this stand, but I honestly think they are over priced. Also, I think they should come standard when you purchase a Canon/Yongnuo flash.
