Great book
This is a great book and I was excited to see two books in one volume in hardback. My only complaint is how small the print is. If I had known it was going to be that smallI would not have ordered it. Will probably keep but wish Amazon would show print size inbooks.

A captivating story of horrid abuse. So glad I read it, it made me more aware of children in my community.
I never liked to read as a youngster. I never read the required books in school because they were just boring. But when I was about 24 I joined a book club and this was a featured book. I bought it and can say that it captivated me. I became an avid reader because of this book. I stil don't read fiction, it just doesn't seem worth my time, but I love true stories. This is the most horrible story of child abuse and it just tore me apart to know someone could treat another human being this way. My mom spanked me much more often than she should have and I thought that was abuse. This is an eye opening story and it has made me much more aware of the way people treat children in society. Children are human beings needing to be treated just as you would any other adult. I have 6 kids and grow to love all children more and more each day! How I wish I could rescue all the abused children of the world! Thank you Dave for sharing your story. You are in my heart and prayers always!

A Must Have
This book is in perfect condition, which I didn't expect with the price being as low as it was. Order and shipment was fast, I received it about a week after I placed the order. I'm quite pleased with this product, and highly recommend it. I like the fact that it has two of Pelter's books combined into one. Thank you so much.As far as the book itself goes, it's a must read for everyone. Denying that child abuse exists is the biggest reason why many are still abused to this day. Knowledge is power, and so I believe that one should educate themselves, and if that means reading about this man's journey, then so be it. I have read the first installment, but haven't gotten any further than that. Yes, it is a heartbreaking story, but we cannot forget that this happened and continues to happen to our children every day. I think for the strength it took for him to write this book, one should at least take the time to read it. You may cry, but at least you will have gained some insight into the life of someone who has been through much more than he should have.

Touching, heartfelt, and educational
Because I have spent so much of my life around children who were growing up in the foster care system, I know that every child there has a story to tale. I was interested in finding out what David's story was like. I was not quite prepared for the journey through his life. But, I was touched by his story, often even moved to tears. I think this is must read for people thinking of reaching out to children from broken homes, and opening up their hearts and houses to crystal children. I think all parents or potential parents should read these books. They should read them to help them understand what creates a lost child. It is truly a what not to do for both foster and biological parents. I read to learn and this book.is truly a learning experience

STRONGLY RECOMMEND
I am a foster mom and a clinical social worker. I purchased this book for the children in my home because I read the book when in college and know how important it is for children to feel and know they are not alone. The young man I purchased the book for is 13 years old and he read the entire two books over the weekend. He loved it the way I remember loving it. It is the type of book that will touch the life of everyone who reads it and strongly recommended not only because it connects foster children to their experience in the system but also because of the brilliant story of real-life resistance that it brings.

book review
This book was very good. I heard one of my rock musician idols talk about the book so I looked for the book and I found the book on Amazon, so I ordered the book. This ios a true story and the author is the boy in the book. I always say that if I want something, check Amazon and if Amazon does not have an item or a seller with the item, then I do not need what I was searching for. amazon always has what I need and what I am looking for.
