The Pen and Ink Book: Materials and Techniques for Today's Artist

As with all the books in this series, the text is excellent. However, I was completely put off the book by the images contained within it. I certainly would not leave this book lying around where any child could open it as it would probably give them nightmares. Drawings of witches being burnt alive, groups of naked women on all fours crawling on the floor, headless naked men, pigs being gassed, a self-portrait of the author with what looks like a gun to his head, etc. It is all just too much. Another reviewer found them creepy. I find them disturbing.I have never written on or defaced a book in any way before, but I am literally going through this book - in stages- and pasting white cardboard on top of all the images to hide them from view. Otherwise, however well-written the book was, I feel that I would have had to throw it out.

Covers a variety of art styles, with a little instruction but not the workbook I was hoping for. Nevertheless, a book of beautiful images.

The book is in a wonderful subject that I love. In a great physical shape. I love isn’t thank you so much.

sorry - I rarely give a poor review but this is so not what I was looking for - it is slightly weird and wacky in the pictures - cartoons etc and not for someone like me who was looking for inspirational pictures to have a go at - as I attempt to get better at pen and ink drawings/painting.

Every aspect of the use of pen+ ink and ,indeed the use of brush, is clearly related and illustrated in this book. It actually encompasses more information than the title indicates. A great reference book for newcomers to the techniques and good for teachers to ponder the possibilities for pupils.

This will be a very useful book for my degree course. It was a good price and in good condition when it arrived very speedily. Recommended.

Details the 'nuts and bolts' required by any beginner, plus many examples, suggestions, projects, before moving on to more complex and demanding projects. Well oganised and well illustrated.

This is a great buy if you, like me, want inside info about different materials to accompany your artistic endavour. I waited long time and it was well worth it.
