Scary, funny, unpredictable!
Season 1 of Killing Eve is absolutely amazing! The series is based on a series of books by Luke Jennings. Writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge does an amazing job in bringing this story to life! The show takes us to several locations such as Paris, London, Russia, and Bulgaria & they are all fascinating to see. The music selection, most of the songs by the band Unloved, fits the show so well! The casting was perfect, I immediately liked all the characters. The first one we are introduced to is the Russian assassin Villanelle & as soon as we meet her we know she is going to take us on an incredible ride! Every episode is suspenseful as she is either killing or chasing someone. The look in her eyes & her sinister smile are scary as hell yet somehow she is so likable! This is the first time I like the villain of a show or movie. Incredible acting by Jodie Comer! Please see her other work in diverse roles such as Help, Free Guy, and Thirteen. The ending was so unexpected & made it so difficult to wait for Season 2!!If you haven't seen this show it is only 8 episodes, short & sweet! It is suspenseful, funny, and the actors are all great! You won't be disappointed & you will immediately want to watch Season 2 which is absolutely fun & crazy!!

A welcome Blu-Ray release, but minimal bonus features.
For me, this series was one of the nicest surprises on TV during 2018. Guilty confession: I had streamed the entire season (several times) when I could watch it for free through my cable TV service. After that, I didn't want to just buy/rent further streaming and was thrilled to learn the season would be available on Blu-Ray. I made my purchase through Amazon right on the release date and it arrived two days later.Video quality (1080p) of the Blu-Ray is nice, as might be expected. The only audio track is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which is certainly adequate for the content, particularly since this series did not contain weighty special effects. As with the original broadcast, you also have the option of English language subtitles although generally unnecessary for most viewers because the dialog is perfectly clear.I would certainly have loved full optional commentary tracks. But, in fairness, I've never seen much included on any discs of any other TV Series. And based on previous BBC offerings, I had no expectation of any notable "Bonus" features, so I was not surprised with this sparse BBC package. Included here, at the end of each disc, are only four very brief "behind the scenes" clips (eight total), the longest hardly three minutes long, and which may even have already been presented Online or On Demand and even during the original broadcasts. For those seeking further related videos and much longer interviews with the actors, the writer and other members of the production staff, one can fortunately find some interesting features available on YouTube - some of which are well worth searching for.So, is the rather bare-bones Blu-Ray set of two discs worth the (admittedly modest) price? Yes, if you are a fan of the series or wish now to share this series with others who may have missed it. I certainly don't regret the purchase. I would have been truly delighted if it had contained a bit more bonus features. Surely there must have been many more, even "In-House" BBC programming interviews, which the BBC might have quickly and easily licensed for inclusion with this Season One package, while still meeting their autumn release deadline.Attached images show the slipcase front and rear which simply copied the sleeve liner.

Strong female characters make this a must see
For much of television's history, female characters have been little more than decorations. On those rare occasions when a program or series featured a lead female character, she was always surrounded by men who kept her from doing something silly, or bailed her our of trouble, or helped her solve a crime.(Let's take ABC's former chart-topping series "Castle" as an example. Kate Beckett is a police detective; a Stanford graduate, is brave and experienced. So, why does she need a guy who writes fictional detective stories to help her solve crimes? Oh, because she's a woman, that's why.)Thankfully, that's changing and "Killing Eve" is a wonderful example of just how far-reaching the changes are. This is a series about not one, not two, but several strong female characters. Sandra Oh is amazing as Eve Polastri, an Englishwoman raised in the States who now works for British intelligence. Jodie Comer is equally amazing as the Russian woman trained to be a world-class assassin. The series revolves around them but they are not the only strong women in the cast - these range from the young daughter of a Russian spy kidnapped by Comer's character to the woman who is heading up the team that is chasing the killer. The series is based on a series of novellas about the assassin - nicknamed Villanelle - and principal writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge has done an excellent job in capturing the dynamic between the two main characters. There is drama, some dark humor, and some interesting character studies throughout this first series. The direction is very smooth and the cinematography is excellent. There is even a surprise twist at the end of this first series, one that I confess I did not see coming. All in all, just an excellent piece of work with very fine actors: Five stars.

Femme Fatale Meets Savante
I just binge watched this last week and loved the series. Sandra Oh from 'Grey's Anatomy' and Jodie Comer from 'The White Princess' play starring roles in this switch blade thriller with bouts of dark comedy. Going to play the next two seasons of the series over the next two months, especially since the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing is on and I don't want to miss that stuff. Bad news is that I heard the fourth season of 'Killing Eve' is the final season for this show. What a bummer. Wish they could extend its longevity for another two or three seasons (seasons 5-7).

Yes it's region free.
In case you wonder why there's no UK blu ray of this and season 2 don't worry. This and season 2 are both region free so will play on UK blu ray players. However be aware if you want to trade them in at a later date that CEX and others won't buy non UK blu ray even if they play on your player.

Villanelle is a belle who could raise hell !
Superb TV series...THE highlight of 2018 on television for me and my wife. To get the Bluray we had to get the US import but that matters not. A tremendous effort from all the cast, not least Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh. Recommended

Immense talent
Great writing and acting. I cannot believe how young Jodie Comer is--she was 24 when the first season was filmed--and her talent and range. She is the next Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Judy Dench, etc with what she can do with a character.Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a behind the scenes marvel. The show has crisp, intelligent writing. Fabulous lines that make you laugh. The show, Waller-Bridge and Comer should have won Emmys for s1 but it put them on the map with voters for future seasons.
