The New Yorker Monday at The Met 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle features a stunning cover by Edward Sorel, originally published in 2001. With a finished size of 26.625''x19.25'', this puzzle is designed for ages 13 and up and is crafted in the USA or Germany, ensuring high-quality materials and an engaging challenge.

Classic
Not every cover art for the New Yorker Magazine can make the successful transition to puzzle art. The images that grace the New Yorker, backed by its literary reputation, may not work in the more topical and standalone space of puzzles. The New York Puzzle Company has lots to select from when mining the licensing opportunities of the magazine, yet it has to pair its distinct medium and sensibilities for their puzzle audience.Edward Sorel is an artist whose work effortlessly bridges that space. His images span a wide range – from fantastical to contemporary to classical. “Monday at the Met” is painted in an old master style – a common puzzle theme. It’s a beautiful canvas wryly depicting the subjects within the museum itself loosely congregating on the front steps on their “day off.” This artwork is a painting within a painting within a cover within a puzzle. Even without that context, though, Sorel’s artwork is captivating – you can’t take your eyes off his canvas (the modern-day ice cream man gives away the spoof even if you don’t know anything about art, artists or museums.)All images – whether on a magazine or a puzzle – work best when the viewer imagines a story behind the scene. This is one of my favorite covers by Sorel, and I hope NYPC licenses more of his work.

Have fun reminiscing about the Met's art collection!
This 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle presents a New Yorker cover showing major characters from the Metropolitan Museum of Art enjoying a day off, back in 2001 when the Met was closed Mondays (thus the title, "Monday at the Met.") Not only is it fun to recognize the various artists' work, it is also a pleasure to work with such a well-constructed product.

very difficult
It was so puzzling that we gave it up about half-way through...it just wasn't fun any more. Small pieces, many varying shapes, dark muddy background.

A challenge
So far so good....got it yesterday and have the outline done and a bit of the main puzzle. It is going to be a challenge. Lots of odd shaped pieces. Fingers crossed all the pieces are here. Last couple of puzzles...from a different manufacturer, had several missing pieces. This is first New York puzzle I have tried.

Enjoyable challenge
I like these puzzles a lot. Difficult and rewarding to piece together NYer's great covers. Really wish they would either provide a complete puzzle picture or stop blocking out a substantial part of the picture with their graphics on the box top.

A most enjoyable puzzle
We love doing puzzles -- particularly New Yorker covers and this one was a lot of fun. A great puzzle in all aspects.

Where are the edges?
I love a good challenge and the subject of this puzzle but ….. I had absolutely no idea that the pieces were in so many unusual shapes and it is virtually impossible to figure out which piece might(?) be an edge. It would help also to have an extra picture of the puzzle especially because they cover an entire figure with their permanent sticker. Yikes. I don’t think I will buy another puzzle made by this manufacturer.
