A tall, beautiful and edible plant that is easy to grow, requires little maintenance, and is drought tolerant. Red Garnet is one of the taller growing Amaranths which can grow over 6 feet, and with its bright red colors can look sensational in the garden. The plant can be harvested at any stage for culinary uses. The young shoots can be harvested for microgreens within 15 – 30 days, or grown on for the leaves which can be used raw or cooked like greens. In late summer the plumes start to produce an abundant amount of seeds which can be harvested and ground into flour or popped like popcorn. The seeds will also attract many different birds into the garden. Sow the seeds thickly in early spring after danger of frost and keep moist until established.
