Good story but...
I wish Mr. Terkla had sent his manuscript to a skilled proofreader before publishing his story. It’s a good story, but I “inked” it up pretty well due to typos, grammatical errors, sentence fragments and other writing faux pas. There are incomplete stories about incidents during his military service days, but sometimes they remained unfinished and I was left wondering, “What happened!? You didn’t tell us what happened!” Hopefully on the next book (he mentioned he’s working on another with a buddy) he’ll send the manuscript to a proofreader before publication.

Great story. Bad writing.
I stumbled upon Rob's YouTube channel about a year ago and quickly became a fan of his and the other googan's channels. I love anything military related and I'm all about supporting guys like Rob who selflessly put everything on the line. No disrespect because I'm no grammar genius by any means, but there were misspellings and incomplete sentences everywhere. It was hard to follow sometimes just because the story telling seemed disjointed and incomplete. It really looked like it was rushed and never edited at all. It could be a great book with a good editor and co-writer. Either way it was still interesting to read and informative. I recommend it.

A quick look at the hard reality of a soldier in and out of combat.
Rob's stories here are just the tip of the iceberg of what a deployed soldier deals with in and out of combat. Like real life, this book is all over the place. This is both good and bad. You get a sense of what he was like and the difficulty he faced when the reality of being forced to do something he really didn't want to do, leave the Army. His reaction and emotion is something any veteran can relate to. Be sure to check out Mr. Terkla on his You Tube channel Lunkerstv. He shares his story and the stories of other veterans there as well. Thank you Rob for putting words to paper and sharing this with us.

Rest is something to be controlled and overcome.
I highly recommend this book if you are interested in the lives of today's Combat Veterans. The book is well written and has the ring of truthfulness and shears light on the difficulties of leaving the military and becoming a civilian with limited civilian job experienc

Great Job!
I read the sample before ordering the book and it captivated me. If a sample can do that, I cannot wait for the rest. I'm a big fan of Rob and his family and how they're so willing to put they're lives out for all of us to see. After all that you hear about what happened and happens over there, to hear it from the perspective of a man that was there, risking his life really puts it more in perspective for me. As a Navy vet myself, I just want to thank Rob and Nick for all they did over there and what they do for us here.Chris

It could have been so much better
Let's be perfectly honest here. This book, and I use that term loosely because it's actually closer to a pamphlet in size, is just ok and pretty poorly edited. The stories, which I wanted to like so much because I love listening to Rob talk about his military service and everyday life on his YouTube channel, are very disjointed and lack any cohesion at all. They seem to jump all over the place and just about the time you feel like the story is getting to it's climax, it just end and moves off to another which takes place some indeterminate amount of time later. As another reviewer stated, the one story that does seem to draw you in, the story of his discharge, just begins to feel like some insight into what he is feeling, and how he is reacting, and just as you start to connect and wonder how he dealt with everything, it abruptly ends. Like some one started showing you the first ten minutes of a really good movie and then bam, turned it off and said good bye.Overall I would have given this three stars, but had to take away a star simply because there are so many grammatical and spelling errors in the book. Now I don't mean grammatical as in the people didn't use proper grammar, I mean as in it looks like a lot of copying and pasting was done and no one went back to make sure they removed the previous portion completely.Overall I wish that a real editor had been involved in this project because I think that with a little more effort and some better editing, the stories Rob presents would have been amazing to hear and allowed us to see into the life of a modem American serviceman, both while deployed and also while facing the much more difficult transition to everyday life.Side note, I've found that many of the reviews giving this book five stars are from people who haven't yet read the book and are fans of his YouTube channel.I find this disingenuous and as someone who had followed Rob on his channel for quite a while, I would hope these people would write serious reviews for products and not just use the review space as a cheering section.Personally to Rob I'd like to say thank you from a fellow veteran for your service and do is all a favor and rewrite this book with more of the passion I see in your YouTube videos so we can truly hear your amazing stories.

Watching Rob and his family an Googan Squad onYouTube has been inspiring! Thanks Rob!
This book was awesome! It brought back memories from my experiences when I was in the Army st Fort Campbell, Kentucky as an Military Policeman! Although I don’t have the chance to go to Vietnam, General Birrdsong chose me to stay at his base to server! I certainly can’t say I didn’t see action of which there was a lot of it! But, just reading your book brought back so many memories of those past days, both good and bad! But we’re all glad you made it back to write this great book and I’m looking forward for your next one!

Good quick read
Rob goes into great detail about some of his experience while keeping the book moving. Unlike some of the books in this genre. Also if your familiar with his YouTube channel lunkerstv this fills gaps and fully explains some of the stories he's shared on his videos. Plus the stream of consciousness narration spills out just like he speaks typos and all. Good job man as a person on active duty who's seen the military break good strong people I'm glad you got your sh#+ together rock on

Read in under an hour
Fairly disappointed in the book. I read it in under an hour. I have followed Robert on YouTube for a few months now, and have seen the same stories told in the book, told on YouTube by him. Somehow I feel deceived into buying the book(told a few times on YouTube about the upcoming book) , and was expecting a lot more, just seems like it was cobbled together to earn a quick buck.
