I've had this mat for about six months. I really enjoyed this mat at first. I actually kind of liked the tree fibers and the thickness really helped my sensitive knees.However, recently I've been developing my practice a lot more and notice the friction between my feet and the tree fibers were cutting up my toes. I thought it would be fine if I just flipped the mat over and used the sticky side, but then the mat slides along the floor just a little bit every time you hop in or out of a posture. So thats a little scary when your attempting certain inversions your not quite comfortable with yet.So if your not an everyday yogi, and your not doing anything crazy, then i would definitely suggest this mat.

I practice yoga at my local YMCA and moved on from the community mats because of the yuck factor of so many unknown feet. I purchased an inexpensive personal mat, but hated it because it was very slippery on the floor. After researching Amazon I decided to invest in the best mat I could find (really, it's like buying good shoes for a marathon- of course!). I liked the reviews and description of this mat, purchased it, and am 100%+ IN LOVE! Stable on the floor with a SUBTLE pliability underfoot.

I have been slipping and sliding on yoga mats and towels for years.... especially during hot yoga. I had the opportunity to attend a yoga class in Canggu while visiting Bali and they had jute mats.... what a novel idea! Upon my return I set out to find one on Amazon. I wanted a blue mat, but Amazon only offered the purple. I ended up reaching out to the company selling the Sala Tree Jute Mat and he was beyond helpful, very personable and very generous. It is not often you get great personal customer service and I was thrilled to be on the receiving end of genuine kindness. They are a husband and wife team, and I will buy from them again! Now to the mats...I waited to write this review until I had some time to use them in different types of yoga practices. Slip and slide no more! They are a great thickness; I find the jute rather therapeutic and I have not experienced the odor mentioned in other reviews. I highly recommend the jute mats and the Sala Tree Company. This is a great mat. It’s thick, which is comfy for my aging bones. It’s long too. It’s downright luxurious. While I pride myself on minimalism there are times when a person needs to splurge a little. I am pleased with my purchase. I cannot tell if it is 100% natural materials but I believe it is. It’s just that the latex section sure looks like rubber. If it’s not rubber then this is the perfect mat.

Beautiful mat with vibrant color. I purchased the blue, but green was my second choice.Very well made with nice finish. Plenty of room for yoga or exercise without slipping.The thickness is noticeable and comfortable while supporting your weight.Clearly the nicest mat I have ever owned. Well worth the money!

I do not know how other reviews claim this mat as slip resistant. I was so excited to receive this mat as it was a Birthday gift. The first time I used it, my hands were already slipping in downward facing dog. I have had a jute mat since the beginning of my yoga practice (10 years) but the company I purchased my original mat from is no longer making them. The only reason I am open to another mat is because my husband likes my old one so I gave it to him. I thought this mat would be a good replacement but was wrong. This mat seemed like a cheap knock off compared to it. I am sad it did not work out.

Love the color & no odor when opening the package after delivery. The mat is thick enough to support the body nicely during yoga practice & I like this mat enough to order again down the road.
