Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!
Who doesn't need help with major life decisions? This is a nice kit that will help you get those nagging questions answered quickly.Made of quality components it comes with clear instructions. The board is well laid out though quite small, a bit of soldering skill will be required to avoid solder bridges. Clear markers to show where all components go. Worked first go. This one is a really good example of an alternative use of standard integrated circuits. Also nice that an IC socket is supplied. Circuit diagram is supplied.Press the button and wait for the lights to stop for a yes (green) or no (red) regarding your most vital life decisions.Well done Velleman, on another nice little kit, and a great life aid!

FUN KIT, BUT WAFFLES JUST LIKE A REAL PERSON
This is an electronic version of the "Magic Eight Ball," only better -- it always gives you an answer instead of saying stuff like "answer unclear" or "cannot tell you now." The odds of the answer being correct, however, are about 50:50.Some may have higher expectations than that, but in my experience, this level of performance is no worse than you can expect from a close friend. And just like a friend, very often the unit will seem to have "made up its mind," only to flip from YES to NO (or vice versa) just as it's fading out (or say, after a few drinks). So you'll have to come up with your own "rule of thumb" as to what the unit (or your friend) "really" meant to tell you.MK-135 is a fun build and very compact. However, several of the pads on the PCB are very close together, and you will also have to clip the leads very closely so the battery holder will sit flush when you screw it to the back. If you have no experience soldering at all and are looking for a first project, Velleman has several others to offer that are a lot more forgiving.

A good beginner's soldering project
During my introduction to electrical engineering class, we had to do a couple of small soldering projects. This is a small kit that requires a push-button, some capacitors, resistors, etc to be mounted/soldered to a very small circuit board. The instructions are okay, but not the most well-written instructions. But, they are not impossible to figure out. Basically, you push the button, and either a green LED (representing "yes") or a red LED (representing "no") will light up, randomly. The board is so small that it can be difficult to work with to get the components mounted, and you will need to be careful to keep your fingers out of the way when you are soldering. It is a fun project that can be put together fairly quickly.

Great practice
Works great! Im barely getting into hobby electronics and got this as a cheap project to practice soldering. Definitely fun and easy to put together.

Did not come with instructions........ so that's still just sitting around ....

Easy to build. Don't let it hold your fate.
The it was very easy to assemble. The instructions were very clear on what to do and how to do it. The board is very good and easy to solder. I used a 30 watt soldering iron with lead free 60/40 rosin core solder. Nothing fancy. The components were in good shape. On the other hand the decisions this thing makes are very flawed. Such as, should I be a nice person? No. Should I trust a stranger with my life savings? Yes. Should I trust this piece of technology. No. At least it's honest.

Easy build, solder points VERY close together; doesn't work properly but don't know why
I like these Velleman kits; easy to build but this one gave me trouble with my moderate soldering skills and mounting points very close together. When fully assembled, pressing the button momentarily lights one of the led's; when button held down, the led's alternate but the expected multiple flashes and final yes or no answer doesn't happen. I couldn't find a solder bridge but that doesn't mean I didn't mess one up. A friend speculated that there may be a problem in the IC....dunno. It won't stop me from buying other Velleman kits; I built the Christmas tree and it worked perfectly.

Decent cheap soldering practice project
This is easily the stupidest thing i have ever put together. That being said its a great little project to practice soldering. The actual finished project has a heavy bias towards yes. And is very predictable. But i wasnt expecting much. I was expecting a decent soldering practice project. And thats what i got. Id recommend it to somone wanting to practice soldering. Although the instructions suck and i just followed the picture on the box. Worked well for me.

Just what I was looking for
I needed this to practice, it was a really good price and easy to build.

Simple project nice introduction.
Got this for to do as a first introduction to soldering for my 8 year old girl. With supervision and some direction she did it really well.Good afternoons bonding time.Did you enjoy that the answer was "no" but I think the answer added to the enjoyment. We used a small soldering tip for the job because of the chip holder.Good fun.
