Helps Control Leafhoppers on Dahlias
I'm having good results controlling the heavy infestation of leafhoppers I get on my dahlias each year. After spraying this, leafhopper activity is immediately nil... Take Down is a great name... at least for about a week or 2. The leafhoppers return, though, so for the long dahlia bloom time in my 7A zone, I've been supplementing with Diatomaceous Earth, which I call "flocking" the dahlias. Next season, I'm going to try to see how well the 10 application limit of Take Down does if spread out evenly once at the end of June, twice in July, three times in August, twice in September, and twice in October. The blooms finish mid-November.

Great for harder to control pests!
I use a mix of pesticides one being this stuff, the others being Montereys spinosyn spray, and also neem oil. I feel I can always see a difference when I use this product plus it’s a concentrate, so more use for your money. I was very excited when I finally found this concentrate version online because all I could find was pre-mixed spray bottles for about 2 months.

Good stuff; natural bug killer
This is probably the best natural bug killer, especially for houseplants because it doesn't smell too bad, as does Neem oil. Azamax (a neem oil extract) is also reportedly good (and relatively non-smelly), but it's much much more expensive.Take Down is a natural pesticide consisting of pyrethrin (.5%) and canola oil. Pyrethrin is made from perennial plant pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium), so it's all natural although toxic to bugs. One pint of Take Down concentrate, mixed with water, will make 8-16 gallons of bug spray, depending on whether you mix it regular or extra strength. Canola oil also functions as an insecticide by smothering the bugs and their eggs and larva.Take Down does NOT contain the synthetic chemical piperonyl butoxide, which is added to some pyrethrin products to enhance its effectiveness. Adding piperonyl butoxide defeats the purpose of using a natural insecticide imo. This stuff kills most insects literally on contact, so if flying bugs are hit with it, they go down immediately; hence the name, "take down."

Effective, but sticky.
Spider mites kept colonizing in my garden, sucking the life out of my tomato and pepper plants and leaving cobwebby material on the leaves/branches. I used several different all-natural and organic pest control options, but the mites always came back quickly. I used this product, and it was very effective at killing the mites and keeping them away for over a month, BUT it left a persistent sticky film on the plants. The film did not come off with watering the plants, and it did not come off the vegetables, even with soaking in diluted vinegar solution (~10% in water) or scrubbing them with dish soap and a sponge. I was afraid to eat the vegetables, so they went to waste after all of my hard work in the garden. This product would be fine for fine for many plants, but I would not use it on any plant that you intend to eat.As for product value, the price seems relatively high, but one bottle will last a long time because you dilute the solution with water and use a spray bottle to apply the pesticide. Its effects also last longer than many other products, so you don't have to apply it as often. One bottle should last a long time for anyone with a small home garden.

Works great!
Wish I would have known about this earlier! We had a scale bug infestation on a poplar tree last year that took several months to remedy. They were back this year, after a couple of treatments over 10 days, they are all dead and the infestation is gone! Expensive, but worth the money! Also works well on ants and other bugs in and around the garden.

Effective, Less Toxic Spray For Gardens
This combination of ingredients is convenient to use and relatively safe. It is very effective when used properly. Most any of these more "natural" formulas don't hang around long (good), so you need to time your applications carefully. If it is going to rain in an hour, better wait. If it is the middle of a hot sunny afternoon, wait until dusk. By watching the plants closely, you can learn when to time your next application. As far as safety around pets and children, you would just about have to intentionally consume it to cause harm, and I would be willing to bet there are a bunch of more toxic things inside your house right now. The idea behind these sprays is to "use sparingly". Maybe only one application will be necessary to knock back the critters enough to let the plants take over on their own. It is still considered a poison, so precautions need to be taken, but this product is about as friendly as poisons get. It works great on aphids, mites, grasshoppers and even caterpillars if you can hit them directly.
