a bit dated, but amusing
Read this years ago and laughed my socks off. Re-read recently and found the book a bit out-dated, but still amusing.

I feel bad about mine, too... but now better after this book
Cookbooks and sex, necks and purses, aging and eyesight and aging eyesight... a range of topics about everyday living discussed in such witty, straightforward prose you'd think Nora Ephron was sitting across the dining room table from you, dipping biscotti into her coffee and chatting. It's the kind of book that takes your head and points it at something and says, "See that? Don't you see that? Well, then listen while I explain it to you." Then you'll see it and think, "Gosh, why didn't I see that before?"Other essays in the book will poke you in the ribs and say, "See? And you thought you were the only one who thought that way about friendship and marriage and life in general!"The hardest thing about writing a review about a book by a writer as fantastic as Nora Ephron is trying not to sound like an idiot while giving the book the praise it deserves. Oh! And there's an essay sort of about that in here ("On Rapture"). She's writing about Michael Chabon's "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" but I could easily apply her own words to my reaction to this book of hers: "I was dazed by the playfulness of the author and his [her] ability to do something so difficult with such apparent ease."She does make it look easy, doesn't she?

Fast and easy read
Thought this book would be more “Erma Bombeckish”. Some parts were entertaining, but I didnt love it. Back in the day I was a big fan of Dave Barry and Erma Bombeck. This book doesn’t hold a candle to either of those individuals.

poignant funny and so true!
Someone recommended this for book club... and I am so glad that they did.. now I want to read all her other books..she is so funny.. her comments on life so true.. i wonder tho if I would have enjoyed it as much if I were younger.. it seems to me that you have to have lived a lot of your life to truly appreciate what she says ... but maybe not.. a good read!!

Nora Ephron Knows How to Hit the Funny Bone!
First of all, I chose this book for an academic book review. In the book titled "I Feel Bad about My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman, Nora Ephron screenwriter, novelist, producer, and film director expresses her physical, mental, and emotional outpourings on age advancement.I wasn't really sure what to expect when I opened the book and began to read. The first lines read like poetry. Then the author switched gears, like a truck going from 1st gear directly into 4th with all the sputtering and grind. Still in the first chapter, in fact just a few paragraphs into this book, I was having some doubts; the writing felt a bit harsh. I put the book down and asked my husband who was driving, if I could read something to him. He agreed and I continued but this time out loud. The more I read, the better the book became. Pretty soon I was laughing at the authors whimsical permutations and my husband was making wisecracks. I guess I can see his point of view; after all, the entire book is based on troubleshooting the undesirables that come with a women and age. I wouldn't recommend this well spun thread of amusing literature to just anyone. It is meant for women who have reached the point in their life when they realize they have spent all their extras such as money, and time on everyone else but themselves. Personally I loved this writing. I highly recommended the humorous readings in this book to my mother who is involved in numerous ladies social groups; Friday Club, Red Hats, Wednesday's Monthly to name a few. I found this book to be an eye-opener full of cunning anecdotes and surprising charm. Women will continue to troubleshoot areas of their lives looking for the age-defying miracle concoction that will allow them to live long, yet retain their ageless beauty; Everything really is copy.

Piacevole e sincero
Molte riflessioni oneste sulla vita e sulle relazioni. Alcune per me personalmente poco interessanti. Altre che fanno riflettere. Quando sono simili alle tue … come dice lei vorresti scriverle per condividere di più. Ma troppo tardi…
