Dell duo Tablet with Dock
It's a netbook. It's a tablet. It's a tabletop PC. This machine does all 3 very well using a very small footprint of space. When properly configured, this machine has the speed of a larger desktop or 15" / 17" laptop. It runs Outlook and Office like a champ. Tons of disk space. Fun for home use and substantial for business use. The Dell add on software for tablet and docking station use is surperb as well.PROS: size, speed, weight, multi-use, Windows OS, full Office support, Dell tablet software, responsive touch screen, full sized keypad, large hard drive, solid build, solid screen, includes laptop power and docking station power, great JBL sound in dock, bluetooth support, supports Wireless N, floating tablet keypad, great Amazon buying options and priceCONS: while the floating tablet keypad idea is cool, it is small - a stylus was suggested in many of the reviews - I opted for a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that work while docked, in a tablet mode, or while in a netbook mode (mouse only for netbook), battery good for only 3 to 4 hours depending on useI have fat fingers so the stylus or bluetooth gadgets were a great addition. While Dell had a good idea here with the floating tablet keyboard, it is small; the keyboard situation should improve with Windows 8. I have Dell employee purchase program at work and was still able to get this machine for less via Amazon - even as a tablet/dock bundle. In regards to the shotty Dell customer service, note that if an Amazon purchase is a dud, Amazon will support you with a return or replacement while Dell will have you mail the device in for service. Fantastic machine and a great buying option with Amazon. Fast deliver. You can add extended warranty thru Dell when you register the device on the Dell website.

Better than I expected
From the reviews, I expected my new Duo to be slow. It's not. It's much faster than other netbooks I've used. I didn't get it expecting lightning speed, but I haven't noticed it being much slower than my 17" laptop that has twice the RAM and a faster processor. I also haven't tried doing anything I knew it can't handle. I originally intended to put in a SSD to speed it up, but I don't think it's necessary now.I've heard bad things about the Dell Stage (what happens when you switch to tablet mode). Mine updated right away, so maybe that's why it doesn't lag. The only thing I had to remove right away was McAfee, to install my preferred anti-virus. Windows has been updating a lot, of course. I hope it isn't one of the updates that slows it down. Service Pack 1 hasn't.It's also a lot bigger than I thought it would be, but that isn't a bad thing. It isn't the same size as an HP Mini, which is about the size I anticipated. Not sure why, but I just pictured it smaller. I feel much better about the price after seeing how huge this thing is.One last thing. The dock is really great. The sound is much better than the Duo's speakers. It's nice to be able to put the netbook into the dock at night and just let it charge. I don't trust the power cord for the Duo itself. My last Dell went through several of those cords because of the weight-like thing that goes right by the power jack, and the jack itself ended up separating from the motherboard because of the weight. Netflix is good on the dock, too. The only thing I'd like to do that I haven't found a way to do is change the background for the dock clock thing.

Cute netbook but horrible speakers and battery life
I bought this tiny computer for my last semester of college. My old netbook was starting to lag and I really wanted something that I could take on a train commute when I found a job after I graduated. The computer runs great, the flip screen was a real conversation starter and made it so much more versatile, and while the keyboard was tiny, it still felt comfortable for typing notes and browsing the web. However, the short (3-4 hour battery life) left me searching for an outlet by my second or third class of the day. Also, the speakers on this computer are just terrible. My crappy phone has more volume capacity. While the docking base fixes this problem at home, when you just want to share a short youtube video or song, you are pretty much out of luck. All in all, its not the greatest netbook on the market, but for the price and with the addition of some earphones, it makes a great tablet substitute. Also, microsoft's on-screen keyboard is really horrible but thats hardly the computers fault. Just don't expect to type out long rants using the touch screen.

Fabulously Fun, but itsy-bitty battery charge
I have been waiting to get this. I love the multiplicity of it, but the battery charge is barely usable! I had an HP mini with a battery usage ability of NINE (9) hours! I knew this wasn't going to be THAT good, but didn't expect to have to charge it repeatedly in ONE (1) day!! I'm a full-time college student as well s a homeschooling mom of 6, I do NOT like to be tied to a plug! If there were anything else wrong with this, I would send it back ASAP! However, I will learn to make do. Just wanted to share this tidbit for anyone else that needed that little piece of 411!

very bad
Contrary to previous purchases from Amazaon, this time I had a very bad experience. The lap top I bought was extremely slow. The support system was also very bad. I feel that it was a defective product and the seller was not ready to agree on this. I lost $ 100 as packaging fee or something like that. I wrote to the seller I am nor retuning the lap top because I want to buy something else but because it does not work at the specified speed. The speed was slower in the tablet mode which was nowhere specified. This purchase has a lasting impression in my mind about buying a product online.

poor customer support
I have a Dell Inspiron DUO iD4495FNT and am trying to find a replacement battery for it - no one has one so I suggest don't by second hand as it probably is for sale because its no longer portable (and if the battery is u/s you can not start on the docking station)otherwise a great little computer

Awesome
Love this netbook. The flip screen makes it even more fun. Not bulky in the tablet mode. Down fall is battery life.
