Fantastic LIttle Device - a must have for the jewelry hunter!
While this diamond tester isn't "point & click", it's pretty darn close. It has two modes, an automatic and manual mode. The instructions are clear for what each mode is for and what adjustments are necessary for each.If you can estimate the ambient temperature to within 25 degrees, and the size of the stone within .25 karat, you should be able to master the manual mode rather easily. The only difficulty I had was calibrating the manual mode start value to anything less than 4, which is required for some settings. However, overall, I don't think you need to be very exact with the start value number. After some practice, its really easy to tell diamonds, from CZ, from other semi-precious stones. You'll get the feel for how quickly the stone "climbs the scale" and should even be able to tell the difference between a diamond and white sapphire. In order to test a piece, your fingers must come in contact with a metal space on the back of the unit, while you hold the ring or whatever with your other hand. For very small stones it can be a little awkward, and you have to have a steady hand. If you touch metal, it's ok, it lets you know. All in all, this tester seems to be good quality and very handy. It may just save you a fortune at your next antique store visit.

Garage Sale Treasure Finder
Great for the novice or collectibles show-flea market-garage sale semi-pro! Hides in your pocket or bag, easily used. This worked right out of the box and earned me some money in its first 30 minutes. Get out that bag of costume jewelry (by now, I hope you've bought an inexpensive Gold Testing Kit too) and rummage through; you'll find a 'beep!" somewhere. Nothing to set up, just ensure you have ambient room temperatures instead of icy-cold stones; it's a gradient scale, but it's pretty much a "Beep"=diamond (now, quality is another matter). Moissonite is a relatively new stone, so if you're looking over older jewelry, this is the tool!

Nice Unit...BUT..........not happy with it
Wife made me wait till xmas to open it.When I did open it. the 9 volt battery was plugged into the unit..That made me suspicious that it was possibility a used item.for almost 100 dollars, I think the tester should have been NEW.It works well, but......it uses a lot of batteries in a few minutes.so have more money on hand to purchase a lot of batteries..or buy a rechargable battery.I don't like how the ON and OFF buttons are right where you hold your thumb..it turns off the unit unexpectantly. I am going to return the unit on the grounds that i think it was previously used.not very satisfied at this point.al

Mizar Diamond Tester
I bought this item after reading other feedbacks and was glad that I chose this over few other testers. It is indeed very accurate and easy to use.

not a good buy for the $ I spent over 3 ago
I bought this items along with the loop and it never worked proprly. The diamond decetor jumped all over the place.I could not figure out what it was duing even with the manual setting. Items that I knew were diamonds did not work either. I was too disgusted and forgot to send it back in the time period Mizar required. Go with another brand.

Works Well
I bought this for my mom and she loves it. She's "low tech" but says this was easy to learn and use.
