Quincy: The Chameleon Who Couldn't Blend In
M**M
Be Yourself
Who hasn't had a problem fitting in? But when you're a chameleon whose wandering thoughts are reflected on your skin, this leads not only to a failure at camouflage but some rather embarrassing moments (especially when he needs to pee). The watercolor illustrations are quite charming and amazing. At one point, Quincy turns into an entire landscape scene of rainbows and mountains. In addition to showing his thoughts, Di Lorenzo also depicts his feelings. Ultimately, Quincy learns that he was meant to stand out. And in the end, though he is "as colorful as ever," Quincy is one happy, artistic chameleon. This is a good book for young children about staying true to yourself and developing an understanding that it's okay for you and others to be different.

Super Sweet and Funny! Loved it!
So glad I found this book! I have a granddaughter that blushes often and cries easily. She adores Quincy the Chameleon, who has to actually show his 'thoughts', because whatever Quincy thinks appears all over him!Barbara DiLorenzo has written a funny, colorful book for children who are gaining control over their emotions. The illustrations are gentle and inviting. Here is a joyful way to be yourself and fit in! It is a super sweet story that children can relate to. A wonderful book!

Quincy is beautiful being himself
Can you imagine being a chameleon whose worst subject is camouflage? Poor Quincy! But don’t worry, after a few trials and errors, Quincy learns how he can fit in by being himself. The art in this book is beautiful—Barbara DiLorenzo captures all the shades of greens you’d imagine in a story about chameleons, but also all the colors of the rainbow that Quincy paints and dreams about. And her illustrations of Quincy are so expressive! I think I have a crush on Quincy. This book is for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t fit in, which is pretty much everyone, so if you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend you do!

QUNICY THE CHAMELEON WHO COULDN’T BLEND IN by Barbara DiLorenzo (Little Bee Books 2018) is a sweet and delightful picture book about a chameleon who wants to like school and tries hard to blend in. But, unlike other chameleons, Quincy can’t hide his thoughts or feelings. Everything he thinks about or gets excited about shows up on his skin. It isn’t until he discovers art class, where self-expression is expected, that he realizes he can be happy just being himself. The illustrations add whimsy and humor to a story that readers of all ages will find themselves reading over and over again. Quincy is destined to become a new classroom favorite.
