Gary Poppins Popcorn - Gourmet Handcrafted Flavored Popcorn, Caramel Cheddar Kettle, 448 Ounce (Pack of 1) (Divided)

The media could not be loaded.  A few years ago, I purchased a few bags of Gary Poppins cheese popcorn at Whole Foods and Fox and Obel in Chicago. With the first I remember calling or emailing the company, as I was sure I had gotten one of batch that missed quality control. There were so many hulls that there was more crunch from hard hulls than popcorn. Still, the flavor is good, not as oily as Garretts, the famed Chicago popcorn house.I never heard back from the company, so bought another bag. Same thing.Then I saw the sour cream and chive version here on Amazon, and bought a tin. Very mild, but once again filled with sharp hulls sticking to nearly every kernel, as well as sinking to the bottom of each bowl. Bought a big cheese tin as well, great flavor, but count on a date with dental floss right after.Then I had a mad craving for caramel corn. I'm not going to review the flavor and quality of the divided tin I purchased, as through no fault of the Gary Poppins company, the top came off in shipping. For the first time I received an item packed in popcorn, that was literally packed in popcorn...of the cheese, caramel, and kettle corn variety!So, my review is based NOT on a single shipping snafu, but on a product with an above average flavor, and below average kernel variety, as the corn strain is clearly too hull-filled to justify the price.A call back from the company would have been nice when I first contacted them years ago, but not reflected in the rating given.UPDATE: After examining the contents...ok, I confess I snarfed down some that clearly never left the tin...and guess what, LESS hulls! Can it be that they switched corn growers? Who knows, all I can say is that I like it! Adding a star.

This is a great product. It will make a great gift. They have corrected the weight of the product (it's not 128 ounces - each canister only holds just under four ounces). Great taste.

I've learned that with Gary Poppins, the experience can vary greatly.With this particular tin, it was above average, although not perfect.Unlike tins of popcorn past, this one wasn't overloaded with annoying hulls or little bits so hard that they can easily break a tooth.The cheese could stand to be a bit 'cheesier', but the caramel is warmly buttery.The tins are sturdy enough to re-use for more treats or as storage.

I liked this cheese popcorn alot. I had some trouble with getting the right size and the first order come with the lid off and popcorn in the box. I think it happened at Amazon and they sent me a new can right away. It is hard to find good cheese popcorn but I really liked this.

Well just make sure you read your order correctly and don't inadvertently "subscribe." Choosing "one month" is being delivered EVERY month, until you "unsubscribe." Unfortunately I missed that one and it took a second unwanted order to figure it out. Hopefully others can use my error to their advantage.

I can't vouch for the quality of the popcorn because this was a gift and I never followed up to ask. But the tin is very attractive. One thing that very much surprised me, however, and be forewarned: the popcorn is not packaged inside with an inner plastic bag or other liner. So there is the potential for it to spill if opened hastily.

When I opened the box the canister was dented, which was one of the main reason I purchased this item. The product tasted a little stale. I did not send it back as I was pretty busy at the time. Will not purchase this company's product again.

I thought the price was too high and the recipient of the tin said the popcorn wasn't in any way wrapped inside the tin so it didn't taste as good as other popcorns i purchased and sent through the mail.
