the unlocking mechanism is also somewhat trouble some but not too bad.
The backplate has a small profile. It also holds my computer securely and seems to be a well built lock. However the locking mechanism is finicky and needs to be fiddled with for the lock to engage. That is it needs to be positioned just right to lock, the unlocking mechanism is also somewhat trouble some but not too bad.

Not inspiring; probably would work.
Don't like the key. But the lock, though flimsy, would probably keep a sticky-fingered Starbucks dude sitting next to you from walking off with the computer if you don't take too long peeing.

It works, the only problem is that if the thief has the screw driver, your MacBook will be gone if you leave there for more than few minutes

Best way to get a cable lock on your retina MBPS. I wish it was a combination lock... They provide 2 keys which I will lose.

Could not lock at all - received very bad quality
I received this lock today and the quality is terrible and it does not work at all!- My lock pin does not fit into the bracket's hole at all. I can not push the lock mechanism forward to lock it at all. This shows the terrible production quality of the product. The hole of the bracket is simply to small and not properly and not precisely cut.- The lock mechanism seems very bad quality. You can feel the springs in the lock when pushing the lock mechanism forward and when unlocking the spring does not always properly pull back the lock pin. Mechanical construction feels week and bad quality - especially compared to Kensington locks or similar.- Keys unlock by pushing the key in and not by rotating. I doubt the security of that. Also, keys are hard to put into the lock, the mechanical construction is bad. Keys don't slide in properly.- I received it as loose items in a shipping box without product packaging.- The screwdriver is a standard Macbook/Apple screwdriver with longer standards Apple screws; which means everyone that has such a cheap screwdriver can unscrew the 4 screws in 40 seconds and walk away with the macbook.
