The Best of Bowie: Piano Voice and Guitar

I got it mainly for the lyrics and an idea of any time changes. The music gives you a start but it’s best to figure out actual guitar and keyboards yourself. I’ve got everything i needed out of it so very happy.

I like the music, the only issue is that, in order to play it, without the page closing, you have to effectively break the spine. Which is a shame but the music makes it worthwhile. I bought it to play so Im happy

Excellent arrangements of all his well known songs, based on the album of the same name. Not too difficult - I would estimate around Grade V standard at most. Life on Mars has a great piano arrangement and is almost worth the entire price of the book on its own. If you want to play Bowie on the piano this is a great place to start.

This book shows the brilliance of Bowie's chord structures and articulation it also highlights the significance and influence of Mick Ronson's guitar playing without Mick's compositions and arrangements we would have not had such iconic classics both men together pure genius.

It was very, very sad to lose David earlier this year. However, he continues to be an inspiration for many of us. I've enjoyed learning more about him via documentaries, books, interviews, his recorded music, and as a pianist. I've realised that David loved the piano, relying on it greatly, just by listening to a wider selection of his music, and learning that when he started using the piano to write some of his songs, it greatly influenced his song writing.I guess that's why, so far, every David Bowie song I have learned seems to suit the piano quite well. This book is the printed version of one of the albums I bought earlier this year, which is a great way to quickly get to know various eras of David's music. I have learned six of the songs in this book so far and I have found the arrangements to be quite true to the recorded versions. However, there are going to be exceptions as there always are. I would have liked a harder version of Life on Mars? just so it's even closer to the recorded version. Even so, the version provided turns out to be pretty close to the original version. One other draw back for me is, I wish that Buddha of Suburbia has been included instead of Everyone Says Hi.In any case, I'm pleased to see that Ashes to Ashes is here in printed form, as well as Absolute Beginners, which funnily enough I am sure I had never heard the latter track prior to this year! It's also good to see different grade levels represented. Some pieces are quite easy while others like Changes and Life on Mars? are harder being around grade 6 and grade 5 respectively. So there is something here for most musicians.After many years away from piano lessons, I have returned partly because of David Bowie. I'm so glad to add this book to my collection to play on my new piano :) I strongly recommend this book.On another note, my particular copy is not well bound. It is already coming apart which is not the experience I usually have especially with brand new books. One page has already come apart from the rest of the book and there are others which are doing the same! I also had to ask for a replacement for the first copy I received as it was actually damaged! I'm not sure what is going on with this provider but I think it needs to look at the quality of its product at least as far as this particular book is concerned!

Content is perfect.......The quality of the print in it, particularly all the staves is very poor and in places not at all clear for quick easy reading! Really disappointed.

I am not a hugely strong piano player, but I've had a go at a fair few in here, Life on Mars especially, and they appear at least to me to be exact transcriptions of the singles. Not excessively difficult, but still a good challenge! Also includes guitar chords and lyrics/vocal melody on score.

Well thumbed book. Love the song selection though

Er ist Ziggy Starman und Spaceboy.So jetzt zu dieser Ausgabe: Viel zu dick und nicht zu gebrauchen. Warum gibt es hiervon keine digitale Ausgabe? Meinetwegen nur für das Kindle?
