Variosan sink stopper, 10421, 1 1/4 inch, 40 mm, strainer, seal

I visited several plumbing suppliers and looked online at Screwfix etc and could not find a simple replacement plug, complete kits at high prices yes, but simple spares seem to have vanished. Apparently nobody wants the plugs on rods anymore and most new installations are flip or click systems.This does the job for my old style plug on a rod installation perfectly. It’s not quite the right size to fit my particular plughole and stands slightly proud but I knew that was going to be the situation when I ordered it, and it is hardly noticeable.It seems sturdy and well made, just like the previous one. I didn't like the sound of some of the modified versions available. I’d rather pay a bit more and know it will do the job without problems for years to come. (Or until the next twit tries to adjust it and drops a bit down the plughole.)It cleans well, and so far hasn’t needed adjusting and seems to be staying put just as I set it up.

Selected these pop up sink plugs because they have a slightly tapered seal compared to round profile seals which do not seat properly in the sink outlet They appear to be ok although bought them to replace a corroding plug All these pop up plugs vary from each other so have resorted to “ modify” each slightly to fit These appear to be good but are a bit pricey Otherwise can’t fault the quick service ...delivered within 48 hours apparently from Germany?

Good product for the price but, plug is slightly too small for the basin that I have, probably less than 0.5mm

Perfect replacement for the old tarnished stopper. Good value and fast delivery.

Once I had adjusted to the right height, it was perfect. Much more sturdier than the original plug. Heavy metal rather than plastic. Seems to retain water. Very pleased! I was unsure about the sizes and reading reviews on all the different options but glad I plumped for this one.The last photo is of my old one where the adjustable bit snapped off as it was plastic

Lovely sink stop. Problem, when put into sink It’s difficult to remove.

Happy with quality of the stopper; easy to adjust and fitted straightaway.

For those, who use a sink filled with water, be careful.Unlike the description of the item, diameter of top plate is 39,6 mm (not 40 mm) and sealing ring is about 38,5 mm (not 39,5 mm), therefore, water does not retain in sin. It more Hair Strainer, not a Plug.
