Floss vs. Foil vs. Stone
After having tried (and been unsatisfied with) a brush, a balled up piece of heavy duty foil, and Grill Floss, I decided to give the Grill Stone a shot.At someone's request here is my opinion on floss vs. foil vs. stone.FlossThe Grill Floss product is my least favorite simply because it's such a pain to use. The floss works well enough to clean the grill (in fact it's probably the best product to clean all sides of the bars), BUT it's very time consuming since you have to scrape each side of the bar individually. And the thinness of the handle along with the pressure you need to exert makes it a strain on the hands.Heavy Duty Foil BallI like this one because it's fast and easy. It doesn't clean the best, but it's better than a brush and it does a good job of scraping the sides of the bars. Also, after you hit the grill with the foil ball... you're done. No extra steps. The ball is pretty much the only thing you can do to get a quick, light cleaning in between rounds of cooking.Grill StoneThis product is pretty good. It's a pumice stone, so it's very soft and light weight. When you brush down the grill with it and apply enough pressure, you'll put some grooves in the stone which will help to clean the sides of the bars. The stone does a good job of scraping every little bit off of the bars, and it's pretty quick since you're not scraping each bar individually. Basically it's like the foil ball but more abrasive. The only downside is that you can't use it for a quick clean across the top like you can with the foil ball. You pretty much have to do a full clean on both sides and then brush down the grill when you use it. If you only scrape the top, then the remaining char and grease on the sides and bottoms of the bars will be covered in the sandy residue left by the stone. You don't want any of that to transfer to your food. Even if you brush the grill after cleaning the top, I think that you won't be able to get all of it. You'll probably need to scrape both sides and then brush the grill to get all of the sand off.

Cleaning the grill's cook top.
This was all new to me. In the past I have seen actual stones used, so I was a bit surprised to see the fiber block and whether it would actual take of the cooked on grease and grime. Also used Flax seed oil, heated the grill to let the oil moisten and soften the debris on the grill top, creating less friction issuing the pad to yo cut and clean it.Using the pad worked well, however, I had to use both side on one pad before it was totally worn down and wouldn't t the holder,. Overall, pleased with the result for the first time "seasoning" the grill.

Works Better than a Brush
This grill cleaner works well but you have to wipe the bars down after using with wet paper towels or something to get rid of the grit from the stone. It does a great job of removing the old stuff and leaving you with a clean surface to cook on. I do not use the handle - kind of bulky and does not hold very well. The block alone is easier to use. It can wear quickly if you force the block into the grates - a light touch works better and cleans just as well. You will need a v shaped wire brush to get in between the grates anyway since this just cleans the top portion of your grates. Using high temp Avocado oil on the grates after cleaning really helps reduce the amount of food sticking to your grill. This is a good product that works better than just a wire brush.

Effective, bristle-free grill cleaner; wears quickly
This item arrived with an extra (beyond the two advertised) replacement cleaning block. I've been using these for several years--they are an abrasive pumice-type stone (created in a high temp kiln from recycled glass) that doesn't clog, rust, or shed bristles like some of the other grill cleaners I've used. I've used it on a couple of grills and found that it is much more effective on grills with wider space bars. It wears down rather quickly (hence the resistance to clogging) and will actually wear grooves to match the grill bars, making it very effective at cleaning between bars on grills with sufficient space between bars. For this reason, I find it much more effective on my charcoal Weber with skinny bars and lots of space than it is at cleaning my gas grill. Besides the fast wearing, the only downside is that the handle design is such that you can't use the last 1/3 of the brick without taking it out of the handle, which sort of defeats the purpose of the handle in the first place.

Nice Grill Cleaner
I purchased these grill cleaners at the suggestion of a nurse friend of mine who told me about the great number of people who came into the ER with little steel bristles (from traditional grill brushes) stuck in their throats. While I have never had an issue with any traditional grill brush, her story was enough to convert me. Overall, I think that the GrillStones clean the grill itself better than any brush I've ever had. However, you will not get many uses out of each set. So be prepared to purchase these relatively often.Due to the short length of the "stone" handle, you're going to need to wait for the grill to cool down a bit if you don't want to burn yourself. Aslo, the "stones" break off into a dust-like consistency, so make sure you blow them out of your grill before cooking. But all-in-all, these are great and I'm not going back to my old brush.

The good: this cleaner does clean amazing well and better ...
The good: this cleaner does clean amazing well and better than stainless brushes. BUT there is the then the bad: a lot of residue, the stone blocks wear very fast (I bought the "kit" with handle and 3 stones, I have one stone left after cleaning a double stainless grill set). Based on other reviews, I removed the grills, and good thing I did because of the sand left over. If I cleaned the grills in place I would never get all the sand out of the barbeque. I put them on an oil change pan and used the stones, then washed them thoroughly. I did see much more stainless steel on the grill than with a brush. But it was a mess, a lot of work, and bottom line, I might use this once a year but would use my stainless brush for routine cleaning, this was way too much trouble. Unlikely that I would buy it again.

Not as advertised!
First thing to know is that the "bricks" are made of glass so make sure you wash your grill or wipe it thoroughly after you clean your grill with these cleaning blocks.Secondly, they don't stay in the brush handle and keep coming off. Its almost like the handle is useless because anytime you lift the handle, you'll see the brick just sitting there.Last but not least, almost half of the brick goes to waste UNLESS you use it without the handle (i.e. directly with your hands). This is because the handle has edges designed to keep the bricks inside but those same edges are so long that once the brick is half used, it basically disappears inside the handle. Hope what I'm saying makes sense. So in other words, you have to use half the brick without the handle if you really want to utilize it to the max.Save your money and buy a wooden spatula like grill cleaner. It will clean your grill much better and last much longer. This is like flushing your money down the toilet.

The best!
I cleaned my grills this year with a degreaser product and a wire brush. When I first used this product, WOW is the impression it gave me. It cleaned the spot down to the stainless steel that I couldn't with the wire brush. Consumer Reports rated it high and it is true.

Came in plain brown box - no packaging
Got it for a gift so was quite upset to find out it comes in a regular brown box without any packaging. That said, the blocks work fine, but they leave this stone dust behind so you need to wipe the grill before cooking or you'll feel like you're eating sand.

Sounded great, my mistake!
Bought for a small travel BBQ, wore out half of it the first use and leaves a dust all over grill. Was very hard to get dust off. Now stuck with 2 other ‘stones’ I won’t use ever.

Really works on BBQ grill and on the metal oven racks
While this product is costly, because it is used up quickly, it cleans as advertised and is worth the expense for those who don't have a lot of elbow grease to clean grills with other products .
