I liked that it was the CD he asked for and it was a gift for Christmas. It arrived quickly.

I remember hearing this album in elementary school when my older brother bought it. I loved it then and love it now (I just picked it up on CD). Although the programming and synths have a mid-80s vibe, the melodies are powerful. I never noticed how great the vocal harmonies were either. And the lyrics are certainly the best he's written. I don't know if Rick was going through a really rough spot in his life when he wrote this album, but there is alot of anguish and thoughtfulness and sorrow in the songs and much of the lyrical content is strongly poetic. Instead of songs about trivial things (like JESSIE'S GIRL--a great song, but lyrically a bit more light), he writes about the disillusionment that can set in after marriage (WRITTEN IN ROCK), the apocalypse (WALKING ON THE EDGE), the death of his father (in the gut-wrenching MY FATHER'S CHAIR) and serenity and peace (TH TAO OF HEAVEN). He's had some other great albums, but this one is consistent, and I like every track on TAO. Rick is a damn good songwriter and vocalist and this album was at the apex of a strong career.

one of the best albums ever on crisp CD.....so many hits crammed onto one glorious release, so many memories...."State of the Heart" is an all time favorite!

Für mich ist TAO eines der besten und innovativsten Alben der 80er.Hier geht es jedoch nicht um die Musik, sondern um das „Remastering und Reloading“ der angeblichen Collectors Edition von Rock Candy.Respekt, so weit kann nicht jeder beim remastern den Dezibel-Regler aufdrehen.Die Musik ist so laut „kaputtkomprimiert“, dass nur noch ein lauter Matsch aus den Lautsprechern kommt. Die Dynamik ist komplett weg. Man hört sogar den Loudness Effekt….das ewige Nachregeln der Aufnahme….. ein unruhiges, übersteuertes, nicht erträgliches Klangbild.Das perfekte Beispiel für Soundbrei und Loudness WarDa höre ich doch lieber weiter meine alte LP von RCA.

One of the best album of the artist. evry song could be a hit . The pity is that the album was not a good promotions.

Alles sehr gut

This CD may not have been a best seller for Rick Springfield back in the 80s when he released but it should have. Every song is awesome! Even the videos for a couple of the songs from the CD were great fun!
